That's what I hate about almost all our former players once they become pundits and get on that "press pass" punditry teat.

They just start spouting a whole load tripe like Nicol routinely does and the sort we've become accustomed to hearing from the likes of Carra.

I hated the fact that in that panel nobody bothered asking Nicol if (putting aside how he did it and the timing) there was anything unfactual or untrue in what Mo said.
Or out of step with reality and how fans were feelings.

Even he himself (Steve Nicol) was saying pretty much the same things a week prior and openly called for Slot to be binned by the end of the season if things didn't change.

But suddenly Mo is a bad guy for doing it in a way that was sure to grab attention and ensure FSG had to act?

If there was anything that Mo said that wasn't true or wasn't in line with reality, I might have been right there with him, but at the end of the day he knows just like we all do, that everything Mo said was 100% true and 100% in line with how fans are feeling.
They don't like that he was airing it out so openly and that LFC are traditionally a club that handles things quietly and in-house, and I get that.
But that becomes a problem when that perception becomes weaponized by the powers that be and is used to facilitate incompetence, the likes of which we're being forced to witness on the sidelines and the performances we're seeing on the field.

I don't think they're wrong or lying in what their sources are telling them.
I also don't think they're sources are lying to them about what they're hearing.

But I strongly believe the club is very deliberately using this whole "sources-inside-the-club" information pipeline to manipulate what fans are hearing regarding what their plans are.

You let it be known that they plan to sack Slot after the season just to tamp down anger and disappointment at Alonso being allowed to go to Chelsea without a fight, but don't leak anything about any possible replacements.
At the same time those same sources hearing from other parts that there are no plans to sack Slot this summer, and Slot himself seemingly backing that perception up by talking like he's definitely going to be here next season and is already making plans for players coming in through transfer and all that.

Either he's being lied to, or these sources are being lied to - and luckily for the club they don't have to corroborate either way, and if they chose one way or the other can always deny that the other option was ever in consideration since they never actually released a formal official statement.

Slot's record at Az Alkamaar & Feyenoord was pretty solid. Setting record point tallies at both clubs etc.
Last year his failure was around PSG away, Southampton & PSG at home.
We won number 20, they partied & then Jota died.

Nobody expected this squad to deliver this PL season.1 game to play, and should secure CL football finishing 5th behind Villa, or at worst 6th if Emery wins a EL title.
