I'm not disagreeing with that. I think Virgil does start to close down but he's too far away. But even if Virgil gets 2 yards away that strike still goes in the top corner. You literally need someone close enough to get a tackle in.Originally posted by jimmyliver View PostAnd the one you don’t , you lose points , I’d rather someone make an effort to close down

My point before the sub and the restart and the greater defensive ability of the pressing and counter pressing 433Originally posted by jimmyliver View PostYes this is my point, if he’s closed down he doesn’t score , he has an are of ten meters in front of him without one Liverpool player
Pick up 10 on 9 don’t let them have it easy around our area to shoot or put crosses in with no pressure on the ball or player
We NEVER conceded that goal last season or the 9 before"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

Right because teams never got a shot against us when Klopp was the manager.Originally posted by Nineteenx View PostMy point before the sub and the restart and the greater defensive ability of the pressing and counter pressing 433

I agree with this , literally go man for man don’t let them have a second on the ball , although he shot and scored it would of been more likely he could of pinged it intoOriginally posted by Nineteenx View PostMy point before the sub and the restart and the greater defensive ability of the pressing and counter pressing 433

Everyone's waiting for a cross that isn't coming. There are 8 players in the box waiting, and none of them are within 15 yards of Reed. Of course he's either going smack it one, or run in nearer and smack it one. someone should have run out, even if only to narrow the shot angle. The team should be coached to never let that 1 in 100 be there in the first place - especially in the last seconds. That's part on the players, but a lot on the coaches because that run-your-legs-off spirit, energy and identity seems to have died with Slot's approach.Originally posted by JockStrap View Post97th minute, 25 yards out. Let him have a go if he wants. 99 times out of 100 it comes to nothing.

Yea mate that’s it , it’s coached as soon as you start playing , dying seconds like that close down at all costsOriginally posted by redgold View PostEveryone's waiting for a cross that isn't coming. We didn't do enough to close that shot down. Granted. But it's still 1 in 100 and chances like that will always be there. You can't block every blade of grass.Originally posted by redgold View PostEveryone's waiting for a cross that isn't coming. And it was the 97th minute and we'd just scored. I don't mind the players defending in numbers.

Absolutely we did that last season playing Jurgen’s system managed by Slot the players still in all their good habits playing the same way as under JurgenOriginally posted by jimmyliver View PostI agree with this , literally go man for man don’t let them have a second on the ball , although he shot and scored it would of been more likely he could of pinged it into

My issue with Slot’s idea of playing that will never work is it is destroying so many really good habits built up over so many years and rapidly taking us backwards"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”
