    • He was no worse than the other 10 outfield players.
On a positive, young Rio deserves a start at least he runs at players.

What do you mean, don't you appreciate gakpo running into players?

Agree. I've had enough of Gakpo getting the nod over him Gakpo is another one that's done at Liverpool, a bang average nothing player with pace like a slug.

Like the rest of them, he's a shadow of the player from previous seasons.

Never rated him really, he's no Mane, Diaz... been a while since we've been so weak at LW then again the other side is not much better anymore.

I genuinely think a change (likely will have to be the Manager at this rate) and a couple of acquisitions in key positions and we could be surprisingly good.

Assuming that Alisson, Van Dijk, Robertson and Salah are departing within the next 18 months or so, you have to look at what's to come.

Mamardashvili, Kerkez, Frimpong, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Ekitike are all players I'd happily have around the first-team if the side is a bit more confident and "let off the leash" and we may well see that if there's a change at the top.

Chiesa, Endo, Ngumoha, Jones can all offer more if they get more minutes to reduce rust and lads like Mac Allister, Gakpo and Konaté can find form again. Isak will hopefully return from his injury and get up to speed after a few months of being back - it's a five-year deal after all.

So we will call that a group of 14 players (you might want to add more) that need added to in the coming transfer windows. We're thin for sure, but quality still remains and whilst it pains me to say it, I think we're reaching a point where we could make better use of the £785,000-per-week or whatever it is going on Van Dijk and Sarah's wages.

It COULD go the other way - we COULD have years of rebuilding, but in terms of age profile and quality as a combo, this is a better squad with a higher ceiling than what Rafa inherited from Houllier for example - or what Klopp inherited from Rodgers.

Recruitment is going to be vital but I don't think we necessarily have to "stare into the void" just now. I think an injection of change (likely the Manager) can kickstart a little something and we can go from there.

                  • Just knew when the first goal went in it was going to be one of those days. And so it proved.

                    WTF was Virgil doing?

Agree , I didn’t rate him when he came in and I don’t rate him now , hasn’t improved at all in 3 years . Weak as hell out wide

A valid question is what would any new manager do differently?
There's a glaring lack of pace and creativity. I think it's knocking on the door for him to go but there's honestly nothing he can do about stuff like what Van Dijk did today. Not sure what he tells them to do for the closing part of the game. A lot of it is simple, basic do your job shit that they're not doing.
Why it's hot to this is another thing. What started it? What changes it?

                        • Thry don’t believe in him

I think my thoughts on Robbo maybe trying to be forced out were maybe right as Virgil looked really out of sorts today

Fair questions - and it's hard to know.

Also, I probably should have emphasised "a change" doesn't n-e-c-e-s-s-a-r-i-l-y have to be the Manager, just that the Nature of the Beast is that is usually what happens.

A change could be different training methods (we look "flat" a lot) regarding fitness/energy lately in in games, or actually using the squad more extensively (Ngumoha, Chiesa, Endo could get more minutes) or system, or self-imposed "rules" about how quickly players have to release the ball (much like Barca used to have a 7-second "rule" about a press) and so on and so forth. It could be a good transfer, or a good window, or a youth lad breaking through.

It may not h-a-v-e to be Slot. But something absolutely has to shift right now.

                                Only Jurgen will do

Needs a huge character who will lift all the players and fans he’d get an instant improvement in pace commitment directness belief everything

I think it’s the only way to save top four he’d get a lot more out of all those players
