  • Ultimately in this game - despite lots of nice passages of play up to their penalty area - we were totally and utterly toothless.

Should have had multiple chances but didn’t… Sadly the threat wasn’t there nor the final ball.

Hugo had to start that game unless he had a headache? 🤕

Rio needs way more game time - and perhaps our one big chance of the game is more like 8 or 9 and we win.

I thought we might just have turned. corner after Marseille - and the start until they scored was crappy encouraging - but no.

    The wait goes on

    • The worry for me is that when we equalised it was Bournemouth that upped their game and went in search of the winner.

Slot is hamstringing them with his system but when there's 10mins to go.and you need the win, it's up to the players to dig deep. Bad systems tactics or not you've got to want to win the game and go and just do it.

I think it’s the only way to save top four he’d get a lot more out of all those players
It's not going to happen. He's got more to lose than gain by doing it, if he comes back and it didn't work out it would be awful not only for him but us as fans. I don't think he'd risk that and I think he'd be crazy to risk it. He's absolutely untouchable at Liverpool, that would change a bit of he came back and it didn't work.
I get why people think it would work but I just don't see it happening in any way.

The biggest FFS of this game was that Bournemouth have been fucking dreadful for months yet they deserved the win. 1/15 prior to this.
We did nowhere near enough in that game, on top for the first twenty minutes yet ended up 2 down. Second half just more of the sideways crap we expect in league games.
It's not bad luck anymore, it's not doing your fucking job. When you're frequently conceding the opening goal that's not bad luck either. Conceding goals late in the game so fucking often is a major problem and it's not being addressed at all. Palace,Chelsea,Utd, Leeds,B'mouth that I can think of but there's more I'm sure.
5 wins since September is wholly unacceptable,it's very difficult to see how this changes from now until the end of the season. The manager and players seem stuck in a rut.

          • How about being the lowest scorers in the opening half hour with 3?
That’s going to put you on the back foot for a kick off

            • We don't have the aura of a top 6 club at the moment. Teams are coming to Anfield knowing they will get good chances, and worse, when they play at home they are expecting to score. There is no sense of an uphill struggle before they even kick off any more. Bournemouth might as well have been playing Wolves today for they way they approached the game.

The players can have bad games, that's excusable, but where's the energy? That should come from the manager. Could you imagine the half time talk if Jürgen was in the dressing room? They'd have come out like their arses were on fire.

              • Is Slot the problem or the players?
I would keep Allison, VVD, Slobz, Gravs.
The rest could be swapped with whatever Everton or Newcastle have to offer in the remaining positions. That's how bad this team is. Anyway, last season was amazing considering who was in the team. Don't be fooled. We were piss poor last season too.

                • Don’t be fooled we were excellent last season

It us the changes to the playing style and system that has caused the issues

A change of manager to one using the players best skills will work a treat

                  • What was really bizarre about the match was there were 3 or 4 times we had a clear opportunity to score in the box and the player instead passed the ball to nobody

                    It was beyond weird

Avoiding responsibility. A recurring theme of the season up to now.

That is definitely a thing late in games at the moment. Nobody wants to have the shot that gets missed/saved to ironic jeers from the crowd - trying to walk it in.

It's the players. There's been a massive drop off in form by the likes of VvD, Macca, Grav, Robbo, Konate and most importantly Salah. Any new manager coming in will have to replace those players over the next 18 months. Nobody could have foreseen all those players collapsing at once but that's where we're at.

I think it's a culmination of both. A collective of players don't lose form like that in an instant.
He's sucked the belief and fight out of them.
His subs yesterday were just plain bizarre. Substitute bingo again, how the fuck did Gakpo get so long yesterday. Brings Ekitike on and removes the two players who you'd likely see as the most creative for him to be effective.

Yea it's definitely a bit of both but Slot shouldn't need to coach Virgil how to clear a long ball. That's just sloppy and we've seen far too much of that from the players I mentioned this season.

The subs are more about managing game time. Some of that will have been informed by the fitness people at the club so his hands are probably tied a bit with how much he can play everyone.
