Hugo's goal last night was as close as you'll get to watching a Fernando Torres clone. If Vidic was watching last night, he'd have gone to bed and had nightmares!

He and Wirtz are starting to form a nice little partnership. We just need to sort the two midfield positions behind them.

@Nineteen - Would you rather have Nunez back over Ekitike? If so, I would hazard a guess you'd be the only Liverpool fan on the planet that would...

His scoring will improve, we are not as good a side without him which shows how important he already is.
This was always going to be the case for a number of that Klopp side. There will be more than one complaining that whoever we bring in to replace VVD isn't as good as him, as if VVDs are just grown on trees...

Ekitikie such a cool, calm finisher, happy to take a touch before getting shot away.
Not convinced nunez would have scored that one.

he would have blasted it as hard as he could. One thing i do like about Hugo is the little shots he takes around the area.. he won't always score. but at least hes trying to be a little clever in how places his shots.

I agree in I’m not bashing him I’m critiquing him as obviously want him to reach those heights

For someone that was meant to be backup for isak i'm pretty sure we wasn't going to play 2 no9's people will disagree... but I think Isak was always going to start if we didn't spend 135m on a broken version...

He's not doing too bad is he? don't think he'll be a backup in the future.

Top striker, we should have got that big lanky german newcastle did instead eh?!?!

He's class Hugo's boss, just need to sort the rest of the team out, when we have quality options outwide, Wirtz working with a good front 3 will be mad, Hugo will work well with them coming inside also.

                  I’m not complaining I’m critiquing it’s a different thing

I’m seeing how good he can be in a front 3 with Wirtz in a Countinho or Bruyne role starting either side of a midfield 3 to move into those positions and hoping to see that happen consistently so Teacake can be better supported to play his best game

Slot played as I gave been advocating Nast night My issues with him have been system and style of play Obe issue is he’ll set up and play like that last night, thrn revert to playing the other way that doesn’t work

If you think he’s having us consistently trying to play like last night you need to look a lot harder

It's up to him now to keep his place. If he keeps playing and progressing, Isak is going to struggle to get back into the side.

yeah if isak is ever fit to fight him for a place

I know it wouldn't happen but in hindsight.... wish we went for a LW who could cover up front if needs be, send isak back to newcastle ... lols

Ekitike is a far far better footballer than Isak. He isn't perhaps an out and out striker in the Isak mould but his ability on the ball is on another level. Forget the stats... Deploy the eye test.

I said this BEFORE we bought Alexander - who I was also more than keen for us to sign.

Have a feeling isak will hit the ground running next season, not sure if room for both in line up and ekitikie has already shown signs he wont like coming off the bench.
Will a 4 3 1 2 work with wirtz behind ekitikie and isak?
Have noticed ekitikie like to start off wide left and my hated 4 2 3 1 could suit him .

Yep could be a problem.. Isak might well outscore him.. but having both is great. Sometimes you need the competition. In the end - there is room for 2 players to compete for 1 berth. Perhaps they rotate on and off all season to remain fresh..? This is what drives elite clubs.

Ask Dom - see his level rise after we bought Florian..

Yes. Harsh comparison. Torres was a top player and bought as such. Dream signing and produced for at least two seasons. Suarez I would say was our greatest ever striker (sacrilege I know). He didn't stay long enough maybe to be considered alongside Dalglish and Gerrard but what a player, biting tendencies aside. Ekitike could be an amazing player if he continues as he's going....seems to have everything. I said on a previous thread he's like Nunez but knows how to score! Nunez had a lot of great attributes - he was strong, competitive, always fit and ready to go. Just lacked that clinical touch which Hugo has.

Absolutely. Isak now has to 'take' Ekitike's place, or at least that's how it should be...
