  • Champions League 25/26

So we finish 3rd overall in the table after 8 games. This is the top 8 overall who automatically proceed to the round of 16.

    Arsenal
    Bayern
    Liverpool
    Spurs
    Barcelona
    Chelsea
    Sporting
    Man City

A lot of big clubs ended up in the playoff section including

    Real Madrid
    Inter
    PSG
    Newcastle
    Juve

They will play to decide who goes into the last 16 starting on 16th Feb

And a number of good teams eliminated altogether

    Marseille
    PSV
    Napoli
    Ajax
    Frankfurt
    Villareal

What it all means is that we will play one of these teams in the last 16, starting on 9th March

    Galatasaray
    Club Brugge
    Atletico Madrid
    Juventus

Napoli is the shock for me in your good teams list, but 9 pts behind inter already this season.

The rest of the list doesn't surprise me, europa teams.

I'd like to avoid Juve the most next.

Yep you could maybe argue PSV who top the Dutch league.

It's still a surprise that those teams didn't make the 24 ahead of Brugge, Glimt and Qarabag.

It’s safe to say the Dutch league isn’t all that from what we’ve seen this season in what Slot tried to employ that might have worked in the Erivedersia but never will in the Prem

            Well they did thrash us

I think PSV had one of the tougher draws in the competition. Seven of their 8 matches were against

            Leverkusen
            Napoli
            Olympiacos
            Liverpool
            Atletico Madrid
            Newcastle
            Bayern Munich

Our draw looks ok when you compare it to some of the others.

                CHELSEA (round of 16)
                Monaco
                Newcastle
                PSG
                Qarabag

                MAN CITY (round of 16)
                Benfica
                Bodo/Glimt
                Inter Milan
                Real Madrid

                NEWCASTLE (round of 16)
                Barcelona
                Chelsea

                City v Madrid last 16?

I don't think many will fancy a trip to Bodø/Glimt - the temperature in February wouldn't make it an easy one for any professional footballer not from that sort of region.

Arsenal fans will be pretty happy. They can play Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund or Olympiakos in the last-16. They should have enough to overcome any of them.

They’re guaranteed to play all second legs of knock-out ties at Home for the rest of the Tournament.

They're at the Emirates for the second leg every time. Which side is going to step up?

Could be Heart-in-Mouth stuff if we end up facing them in the quarters or semis. No matter our League form, you'd think the Anfield atmosphere would be pretty nuts in the first leg.

That's as good a draw as you can hope for at this stage. Certainly better than a rampant PSG last year.

Slot saying in the post match presser that he thought our team could have won the CL last season. I think that's why he keeps bringing up the PSG game.

So - After Benfica’s heroics v Real the other night - they’ve been drawn against…. Guess who - Real Madrid. Should be some fireworks for that tie.

Haha, mental that keeper scoring the other night. Great moment. Mourinho loved it.
