I think part of the big problem is that every time we have to play Szobo in the RB position - as we're currently forced to thanks to the injuries to Frimpong and Conor - we get weakened in the midfield.
And you could see that over and over again today whenever we lost possession, they just ran through us.
You can't have both Macca and Grav playing that high up if Wirtz is your other midfielder and he already has to play high up.
Let's just hope Slot doesn't do his usual thing of thinking to himself "We need to protect a 1 goal lead at home" and then takes out an attacking player to bring in a defensive player like Endo and hope to sit on that lead until the end.
Because Newcastle will absolutely tie the game and possibly even go on to win it if he does that.'I got told there's an English phrase, 'You don't win trophies with kids'. I didn't know that' ... - Jurgen Klopp

Totally agree on Mo. A few times in that half he did things that he just was doing the complete opposite last season. The long ball over he didn't bring down, the scoring chance, last season he's bringing that ball down under control and that chance ends in a goal.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostEkitike is an absolute effin star.
Two moments of brilliance dug us out of a whole there let’s not kid ourselves.
For 35 minutes we were clinging on, could have been two or three down. As a defensive unit we have more holes than a colander. Newcastle came to attack and deserved more than they got in that first half. We need to be much much better in the second half.
Mo, what can I say… he’s a mere shadow of his former self. Wasted several good positions in the first half, he made Gakpo look decent ffsThe defining moments in our lives are never planned.

He came from a deeper midfield position and used the space created by the four players ahead of himOriginally posted by justme View PostNot blowing my own trumpet.. But i have said previously. If Wirtz is gonna make it here he needs to play in the false 9 role. You can play Ekitike tucked in off the left and let him roam and get central..If Wirtz can up his goal scoring ratio. which he has to be fair of late. It will work .. You can go back a solid 3 in midfield then. allows the likes of Macca and Dom to get in the box as well. which is what they are good at. as well as sitting in when teams attack.
He’s not a false 9 he’s a Coutinho or De Bruyne needs to start in midfield and create moving up as he did tonight and on Ednessay"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

His first touch, ball control, pace, and ability to make the right decisions have all vanished from his game.Originally posted by teesred View PostTotally agree on Mo.
