I thought I caught Vinicius saying "Mono" to the referee which is the Spanish word for "monkey" but I'm not going to sit here and pretend I'm some sort of lip-reading expert. There are so many phonetic "auw" and "oh" mouth shapes in both English and Spanish, but given the context....

You'd think in this day and age there could be small microphones on players - even if some dickhead managed to deliberately break or cover their mic, another player's mic would pick something up - would surely limit opportunities for anyone to hurl abuse.

Recordings don't need to be broadcast to the public but can go to some sort of panel or be on a "Black Box" if you like should any evidence needed gathered regarding an alleged incident.

Thanks for understanding Kev, I thought it was an important point to make. I see your point too. I am much more of a lurker than a poster but really enjoy reading the contrasting views of many on here. Right now life is too busy to commit the amount of time I'd like to engage in meaningful discussion. That day will come...

Suppose, I wouldn't be racist myself........... but if I was black, I don't think it would bother me too much especially when said out of anger because i've scored.... that will mean more than some remark because of sour grapes, but easy for me to say, I reckon he's just being a cunt and milking it and nothing really was said that bad.

Racism remarks is no different to homophobic remarks..... trans special needs.... etc, hate is hate.

I can see why Racism was a thing back in the day because in england for example, was rare to see a black person back then, any anything different scared people of they found it weird, it's the same today but obviously it's more common which is why i'm not sure why anyone would still be racist compared to years and years ago.

Yes hate speech is hate speech, no matter which protected characteristic is being targeted. Seems like deflection though, as that is not the topic in hand, the accusation on this occasion is that of racism.

Is it really too much too ask that black players and people are not called monkeys or the N word? Those that do should be challenged and in my opinion condemned.
