Both absolute passengers and have been for too long. The side is always going to be up against it when you're carrying players who either don.t do enough or simply aren't up to it. Both of them fall into that category now.Originally posted by justme View PostTimes ticking on Slot's tenure.. You can't keep picking the likes of Gapko and Salah.. they offer nothing. try someone new
We cannot go into next season with those two in our attack.
We got the points yesterday but it was another game where we were outworked by the opposition and they played on Thursday. Really not sure what the issue is with our work rate but there's definitely a problem there because multiple times or more this season we are being overrun by the opposition.
That is a managerial or coaching problem in my opinion. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

I think some will say this guy is negative but he's not. He simply points out what's happening.
27 games in and we are still watching this insipid, drab uninspiring football that's really quite worrying but we've said this all season.
He asks if the managers simply fucking bizarre decisions are having an impact. The performance and effort levels would suggest they are. I honestly think they've checked out on him at times because like that guy says this group of players is better than this.
I didn't realize that we haven't once this season came back to win a game after going a goal down. Wow.
We obviously had that bad run and managed to arrest the defeats but even 5/6 wins still has the feel of papering over the cracks when you look at how we play and how fortuitous we are at times like yesterday. The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

We're certainly an insipid watch at the moment from an entertainment point of view. It definitely looks like we are playing "keep his job" football at the moment. Most of our last run of results (some exceptions like Man City, Bournemouth, Leeds etc) we're keeping the opposition to 1 goal or getting a clean sheet and we are certainly creeping closer to Champion's League qualification as a result. The key question is, if Slot is our Manager next season, will it continue to look like this, or will we get something more akin to last season where we looked "controlled" without looking "boring" going forward?Originally posted by teesred View PostWe obviously had that bad run and managed to arrest the defeats but even 5/6 wins still has the feel of papering over the cracks when you look at how we play and how fortuitous we are at times like yesterday.
Whilst last season didn't have the raw entertainment of Klopp's tenure, I never had the feelings of watching a Hodgson side - whereas there are probably 8-10 matches this season where it has been that "dull as dirt" feeling and I sincerely hope we can wrestle our way out of that.
Whilst Slot does (and should) carry a portion of the responsibility, you have to wonder how much of it is our current player profile? How much more exciting would we look with a pacey wide player who actually has a go at his full-back? If we had a time Machine and could put peak-Mane in this side instead of Gakpo, I bet it looks better already.
If we attain Champion's League football, will we try to add some of the remaining pieces of our partial rebuild and stick with Slot? Or seek a Manager who can get more "oomph" out of this crop of players?
I'd love to see what some of the nerdier, less publicly accessible data says about our underlying metrics in terms of chances of success. We're currently 16 points off top, 13 if we win our game in hand. Whilst that is "pretty bad" I don't see us arriving at the finish line trailing by 30 points (Houllier's Liverpool behind Man United when we decide to appoint Rafa) and I absolutely do believe that a couple of good wide forwards could give us a real lift to bring us closer.
Can we play Champion's League every week
We actually look really good for the most part when we feature in that Tournament!

Good points and some thought provoking too and even though it's only his second season it has a feeling of the last ones of Ged,Rafa and Rodgers. A complete slog that is just going through the motions, making bizarre decisions that just don't make sense and being so stubborn it borders on arrogance.Originally posted by Insidious View PostWe're certainly an insipid watch at the moment from an entertainment point of view. The thing is whilst our league games are uninspiring and not exactly an anticipation the CL is the opposite. We look a different team in that and the games are something to look forward to.The defining moments in our lives are never planned.

Yesterday looked like one of those pre season games where players are thrown on in any position just to get fit for season ahead.
No formation,no tactics, complete mess and yet slot gets lucky again.
Its not helping that salah, gapko, mac and gravenberch have been AWOL all season.
Slot has to change things,he has to do more.

It’s how they’ve been asked to play that has affected the players
For instance, v Brighton Mo and Gakpo played furthest forward and Chiesa deeper and that was Mo’s best game
A lot of new manager bounce is just the manager playing the players in their best positions doing what they do best.
I don’t think it works very well with a lone front man, watch City these days and Haaland isn’t always furthest forward"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

We are watching vastly different games.Originally posted by Nineteenx View PostOh and Macca scored the winner twice yesterday and was excellent v Brighton
Mac gets credit for his winner, but he was an absolute passenger for 90mins. Again. His only saving grace is that Grav had a stinker and upstaged him.
Ignoring Slot's tactics for a second he is being hampered by a some dreadful performances. Yesterday was far less of a tactical issue but more of players' woeful performances.
Everyone further forward than the defensive line had a shocker.
We've been saying the same about Konate, Mac, Gakpo and Mo as the main culprits. Konate has dug his way out of his poor form. It's time for the other 3 to start doing the same, irrispective of the team's set-up/Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

Mac has been shite all season. Yesterday was his worst performance. It was Mo's worst performance too. Probably ever. He looked like a fucking schoolboy in a Premier League game.
They are stealing a living at LFC. Get rid of both in the summer.

No he hasn’t he’s just a target his stats v Brighton on tackles and regaining possession were excellent I commented on it with the naked eye during the game as the usual suspects were at it thrn our resident statto CCTV pulled his stats up and scored him 8.5 correctly"If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, i'd close the curtains”

This is how I rated the players after Brighton
Alisson 7
Jones 7
Konate 8
Virgil 8
Kerkez 9
MacAllister 5
Szoboszlai 8
Wirtz 6
Salah 7
Gakpo 6
Chiesa 4
Other sites that aggregate stats have it very close to that. Macca as one of our worst players in that game.
As I said, shite all season.
