We could have gotten guehi in the summer if we weren't so ponderous. Imagine the difference he would have made.

Guessing the egos on the pitch and in the boardroom won't be as strong as in Madrid wherever his next job and that'll be of benefit.
I agree Madrid was too soon for him. But he was gonna take it once offered it. Right now there aren't many top jobs, although our one should be available.

He won't go to Bournemouth for example. So in the Premier league it's Chelsea or us. Right now ours isn't available.

      • By the time City got them in January, I guess the prospect of playing for Guardiola rather than Slot was the deal clincher.

        • Yeah - you say that but we almost Got Guehi for £5 million less. I mean - come on…. Ok he would have missed an entire pre season with the squad - had we managed to hoodwink Palace on the last day …. But still 😜

This is the genius of our master plan

Should never have gotten to January. We should signed him in January. As Steveo says, 5mil extra.
It would have solved a cb position for the next 5 years. But we thought we could get him for free then. Ffs

            • First - we refused to meet their asking price for their key man with derisory offers. Then - we tried to force their hand in a last gasp sale on deadline day.. All because money is tight….

              Erm 🤔

The transfer guys were trying to be too 'clever'. Thinking he would sign for us in Jan or on a free. City didn't wait, went in, here's the cash, thank you very much.

We should have had that wrapped up in the summer (typo in my last post). It's the one transfer I thought was the biggest mistake. Not getting in a cb.

I wasn't too keen on the isak one either.

Imagine klopp looking at that transfer window last summer. When he was given no one after winning the league. Or did we sign Konate only that summer?

                • So by my calculations, even if we lose on the final weekend and Bournemouth finish above us,, IF Villa win their final, we'll get champions league by default?

                  • Villa need to finish 5th AND win the Europa for 6th to qualify for the Champions League.

We still need Bournemouth to lose v City in midweek for us to qualify without gaining another point.

If Bournemouth get a point then they can still catch us but need a 6 goal swing in goal difference

                      • Can see City drawing at Bournemouth. If they win that and Palace do to Arsenal what they did to us late in 13/14 though, it would be hilarious.
Even funnier if Arsenal dropped points at home to Burnley.

Cue Kelleher having a blinder at Anfield and Henderson galvanizing them to a 0-3 victory.

As much as such an outcome like that will sadden me as an LFC fan, I'll be chuffed for Hendo and will hope that as Mo requested, the Anfield crowd give him the send-off that was denied him - along with Kelleher, who continues to show that we always had Allisson's replacement right here instead of going for a 'Moneyball' replacement in another league.

We'll be saying goodbye to two (possibly 3, if Allisson gets an appearance) legends of that era that Mo lamented we've lost.

Which will be about the only thing I'll be looking forward to in that game.
