They are in the positions that they are because they are effectively the one club in the biggest city and league of each country, something that affords them a lot more money compared to their 'rivals', a less packed, less demanding schedule, and very little competition.Originally posted by Steveo View PostFor certain. They are this level and play in weaker leagues. They would both be scary in the Prem. Look at the players in every position… Both teams - top top class
In the PL a number of those things would no longer be the case.

No - and PSG were for eons not the top club in France…Marseille were and this has often been the case.Originally posted by RedMagic View PostThey are in the positions that they are because they are effectively the one club in the biggest city and league of each country, something that affords them a lot more money compared to their 'rivals', a less packed, less demanding schedule, and very little competition.

..and I have this from actual premier league managers - playing at a lower level week in week out is not an aid to get your to your best. See us v Peps - City. Djokovic having to get to GOAT levels to best Federer and nadal.
This is sport - and I tell you now - this PSG side are levels above anything in the Premier league

This PSG would be far far stronger still were they facing the sides in the Premier league - week in week out.
Their weakness - and they don’t have many. - but the ones they have are born of not facing a real test often enough. Complacency in front of goal as we saw often v is last year and this. Soft goals conceded at the other end too.

It's six of one, half a dozen of another. A lack of competition can be both a positive and a negative, but having a less packed, less physically demanding schedule is a positive, never mind having games rescheduled for you, and being bankrolled by a very rich oil state.Originally posted by Steveo View PostNo - and PSG were for eons not the top club in France…Marseille were and this has often been the case.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yes we shall - and to be fair - I do see your point - it has merit. I think you are right to say it works both ways.Originally posted by RedMagic View PostIt's six of one, half a dozen of another. but you see here - PSG conceded 4 - this is where I believe against better sides more often then tighten up.
It’s why I fear them in a final v the dark arts Arsenal set piece swines

No as I have said - this is literally the opposite imo. I know it’s tough for the Brit to take but they just have better techniqueOriginally posted by redebreck View PostAre these clubs at such a high level partly because they don't have extremely high competitive games almost every week, and sometimes three games in a week?
