Anyone else had/having problems with cars? Modern cars are so technologically advanced it's crazy. Everything's computerised - anything goes wrong it has to go into a garage, half the time for computer based chips to be replaced.
My son has had an Audi for the last twelve months and has had no end of ECU based problems. Last week something to do with the ABS started playing up and another computer based part needs to be replaced or repaired. The part costs around £2000. Its apparently a common fault on Audis but they won't cover it under a warranty. I appreciate technology but the technology involved in cars has gone crazy.

They're a nitemare. Unfortunately high end cars like Audis cost a mint for parts, nothing is cheap on them. Servicing costs a lot too.
Never owned anything like that, always had middle of the road stuff but they are still a nitemare when things go wrong.
The fact that a computer needs to be plugged in for a diagnostic ( which they charge for) is annoying.
I've never been a car person, they're a means to an end for me and due to my kids doing football,horse riding and having a dog that moults it's hard to keep it clean and tidy.

Best car I drove was the 1.2L seat ibiza Turbo Diesel.
Great mileage and enough power in the turbo to overtake with ease. Enough weight to push down into the ground and not suffer little car issues like 1L petrols.

Essentially a VW and one of the ones they got fined for lying about the environmental/co2 emissions on.

We had a Primera, probably around 2000ish. It was a diesel, lovely car and really comfortable. All good until the missus decided to take it into a local garage for a major service, instead of a Nissan specialist I had been using for a few years down in Cardiff. The local garage either over-tightened or under-tightened one of the head bolts, and it snapped leaving us with a fecked engine. The garage refused to acknowledge liability and we ended up having to scrap the car as we couldn't find anywhere able to repair it at a reasonable price. The screw-up coincided with my being made redundant at the age of 49. N216PNY was the reg. This was one of the items I've been meaning to bring up in one of my other posts - may get around to it at some point. Anyhow, Nissans are generally good motors, so nice choice..

They're not a "sexy" motor at all but the Hyundai i20s are absolute gems if you want an A-to-B reliable motor. The i10 similar though the boot space isn't worth speaking about.

E5 i can't use E10 and i annoyingly get 5p off litres of fuel at the supermarket which only has E10

Had Audi's, Beemers, Mercs as company cars when I was younger. Great but thank f**k I didn't have to pay to maintain them.

These days I stick to Toyota. Nothing glamours but cheap to maintain and run. Not much goes wrong with them, if it does I take it to a reputable mechanic/garage and tends to work out well,

Local Nissan dealer a few miles down the road from me agreed when I said to him a few years back 'Cars are a rip-off!' 'I'll stick to cycling'....I'll never own a car,had a few lessons in my early 20's but never been interested in all honesty....
