When Konate gets injured we are left with virgil and quansah. Virgil is older and might need reduced playing time as the season goes on, or he could pick up injuries himself due to age. Unless someone knows of another cb in the youths / reserves that we are hopeful will show up if needed?

I covered gomez in a previous post I wouldn't want him at CB. Full back, he did very well last year. I think a sustained period at CB and we are in trouble.

So sepp is the one we are hopeful of taking up from quansah. He has had a full season out on loan, I would love him to step on and be good enough. I just don't know if he is.

Nor me (knowing if Sepp is good enough) but at the end of the day there's a very good chance that we will register a 25-man squad and 5 of them (Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah, Gomez, Sepp) will be recognised centre-backs.

Plus if we were absolutely desperate (nobody wants this, but hey) I am sure Bajcetic (with his previous experience of the position) or Endo could "do a job" for a couple of games - though I will spell out that this would not be in any way ideal.

Trent playing in midfield probably doesnt help.

IMO - Trent is in real danger of losing a guaranteed berth. He will have to improve significantly. His new deal is more about keeping the Scouse vote subdued than anything else.

Super talented in certain areas but has to do better in others. Really not sure what to was the right thing to do.

IF we are a club that depends on selling to buy - then it becomes a very tricky one

Yes, we have 5 CBs. But are they good enough? I mean every club will register 4 to 6 CBs. But it depends on what we want as a club. Challenging for the top honours, or simply challenge for top 4. Just because we have 5,it doesn't mean we should be happy. For me, cb is a position we need investment.
