When asked about that, Slot spoke of "load management" and giving others (he cited Phillips) a chance to play.

Could be a bit of PR, could be the truth, could be a vague bit of both.

    Long weekend

According to Mikel Recalde of local newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa, Liverpool have informed Zubimendi they need his final decision by Wednesday (August 14) at the latest.

If that deadline passes, they will “have no choice but to get to work to sign the next one on their list.”

He has been at his hometown club since he was 12, so I don't see the point in quibbling over a few more days if it's the last week of the window.

If the source is even accurate. Every "ITK" will be milking this for all it's worth to gain traction, so don't let the noise phase you. We have had -

    - "deal agreed"
    - "had this weekend to decide"
    - "no formal bid has been made"
    - copy/paste/re-word variations of all of the above

Zubimendi will sign, or he won't - and the Earth will continue to spin.

In all fairness "the Earth will continue to spin" regardless of anything that happens to Liverpool Football Club.

Thought I would add that IF we are in the middle of a game of 'State the bleedin obvious'

Now they're saying its a buy-out clause not a release clause.
