    Mo Salah, Legend

Mohamed Salah has been named the 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

The Egyptian receives the prize for a joint-record third time, having also been awarded it in 2018 and 2022, equalling Thierry Henry.

Salah took a remarkable 90 per cent of all votes cast from the 918 members eligible, winning by the biggest margin this century.

FWA chair John Cross said: “Rarely has there been a more popular winner than Mo. His overwhelming victory is just a reflection of an incredible season.

“He continues to rewrite the record books and his performances this season have obviously been key to Liverpool’s 20th title.

“It’s been a privilege watching him this season and it will be a privilege to welcome him to our dinner to celebrate his success.”
    "I am the Normal One."

I agree although wouldn't have been shocked if they had said Virgil tbh.

Virgil has been totally immense and would have been well worthy…. The guy is, imo our most important player…… But in the age of stats… 28 goals and 18 assists… 46 goals or assists… in 35 games - would be far higher had Darwin had an eye test.

Virgil was clearly the most important of our 3 amigos to sign up for next season. Not a pissings chance he would win pots.

Diaz has scored more open play winning goals than Salah this season. (6)

Gakpo has better goals per minute stats than Mo this season.

And if Mo from last season played as many minutes as Mo this season, he'd be expected to have 3 less goals/assists.

Mo has scored 4 more penalties this year (11) than last year (7)

If you remove penalties, Salah would have better goal/assist per minute stats last year than this year.

If you exclude penalties Salah would be 1.7 goals/assists worse off this season than last.
Including penalties (more per minute this season than last) it's 3.3 goals/assists worse off.

For our POTS don't think MacA or Grav can be overlooked.

Yeah but apart from the record number of goals, assists and a trophy laden career at Liverpool what has Mo Salah ever done for us??
