Two good midfielders would just be so transformative. I'm picking Bellingham and Nunes for the sake of having names but it doesn't have to be those two. Will stick their names in quotation marks.

This is a loose picture of how it could look for next season if we allow certain lads go and bring in two mids. Haven't gone for exact numbers in terms of the 25 so we may be out by a couple.

    .....................(Kelleher, Davies)
    ........................Alisson

(Ramsay, Gomez, Matip, Van den Berg, Tsimikas)
    ...Trent.....Konate......Van Dijk.....Robertson

    .....(Jones, Fabinho, Bajcetic, Henderson, Morton)
    ........."Bellingham"....Thiago......."Nunes"

    .......(Carvalho, Gakpo, Jota, Firmino, Elliott)
    .............Salah......Núñez......Diaz

What's souring everything is how poor this season has been and our likelihood of missing out on Champion's League football - and the potential subsequent effect on transfer budget.

    Nah.

Man United always threw too much money at the wrong areas. Still have a crumbling stadium for example and Phil Jones is STILL at their club.

We generally spend on the right areas, but not quite enough expenditure, leaving our squad one quality player short in most windows.

Last calendar year we have spent well in terms of age profile and trying to future-proof certain areas - around £150m in 12 months on Gakpo, Núñez, Diaz, Carvalho, Ramsay. Folks will have wanted an extra £30m-£50m or so spent on a midfielder and they would (probably) have been quite happy. Don't think anyone at the club (even if fans differ) anticipated this season being THIS bad - and in their defence it has been compounded somewhat by injury issues.

Liverpool are 3rd in the revenue list ahead of man utd . Behind Real and City top (lol)

    Not so sure Sid.

Preseason, nothing should be read into the team selection, all about minutes in the legs.

    But really!

    Champions league end of May.
Internationals mid x2 weeks in June.
    Then back start in July.
    About 10 days off.

    New season.

You could see that things weren't right.

    Darwin arrived Monday.
Tursday all on a plane to Singapore.
7 days or so in far east.

    X3 games. Nonsense football.
    What for ... ?
    Money.

That is not preparation for a football season.
Sure others were there. But their season ended 2x weeks or so before. As well as a x1 week break fa cup weekend.

Liverpool were fucked. Physically and mentally, emotionally.

The charity shield covered it all over.

Then the season started with injuries and poor form.

Hangover of 63 games , and certain disappointments.

When you look at it already the 3 finals.
    No goals.
To get over the line we were already cooked.
