Liverpool transfers in/out and rumours 22/23 + Contracts

We moved on from the rejected £84m bid for Bellingham and got Mac Allister and Szoboszlai wrapped up rather quickly which was good.

Henderson and Fabinho transfers were an unexpected spanner in the works.

Still the earlier part of August - would like a DM and a CB - hopefully get both. I'd be happy enough with the window if we finish it having acquired 3 new midfielders (got two so far) and a centre-back.

I think with both Hendo And Fab gone I'd like 2 more midfielders. 1 a young for the future (Lavia) and 1 for now that can go straight in. I just don't think thiago will stay injury free.

And yes, a cb also.

So that would be 4 midfielders in and 1 cb in total. With 5 midfielders gone. We won't count Artúr 😁.

Strung everyone along with the Bellingham transfer. Not direct fsg quotes but plenty of soundbites to the media. Then to say it's too expensive. Everyone knew it wad gonna be 100mil plus.

We wasted last year not getting the midfield sorted, then brought in Artúr as a panic signing. So far going into this season we are worse off in midfield and defence is also worse off.

The more you read about that it seems that any chance was dead in the water when we failed to make the top four.
Also his wages were an issue by all accounts.
We never had a chance but I fully agree with the fact they did absolutely nothing to dispell those rumours, they should have put them to bed immediately but we're more than happy to keep up a pure pretence and that is what infuriated most of us I think.

Exactly, the pretence is the annoying part. I think it's more deception. Last January, everyone knew we needed midfield reinforcements. The rumour went out that we are waiting for bellingham and then nothing. We were never in the running for him by the sounds of it. But fans were happy thinking we would get him.

Let's see how this window pans out. But if fans aren't happy don't be surprised with more rumours after the window closes of a war chest in January.

Not sure why people are taken in by the deception. The club is openly for sale. There is zero interest in this club for them beyond the profit. There never was tbf but now it’s simple damage limitation. Club reached peak value and their fellow Yank owners down the East Lancs put the Kibosh on it.

Buzzing about the rumour to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall , even better than Kalvin Phillips..... he might be able to keep us up this season.

So tonight the Football league begins, with a game between Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday. Lavia not in the starting eleven, although he is on the bench. I think he would normally be a starter for them.
This leads me to think that Southampton do expect the deal to go through, although who is going to blink first about the price we can only speculate.
