In terms of age profile that would mean our non-VVD options would be -

Gomez - 27
Konate - 25
Guehi - 24
Quansah - 21

- and that is before consideration of the likes of occasionally using Bajcetic back there instead of midfield, or if we kept Sepp - which admittedly I don't think we will long-term.

Age profile isn't as important as talent, availability and capability of course, but our centre-back situation would look very healthy indeed going forward if we look at it from an age perspective. All would be away from the Autumn/Winter of their careers and all would have Premier League experience.

The 3 areas that probably 80+% of Reds feel are in need of attention, particularly if the forward is a right-sided option.

Don't foresee us buying all three, but encouraging to see we're looking at those areas most closely.

Mo Simakan's name has been mentioned a couple of times now in the Muttersphere.

Certainly the right age profile (24) and able to play centre-back or right-back.

Think "recruitment" for a couple of those positions will be from within - no point buying someone "quite good" if we have someone breaking through for that position with a lot of potential.

What we shouldn't neglect to do is buy someone for the starting XI if they're available. Genuinely think our depth and relative youth is excellent throughout the squad in most positions.
