Before the end of this window? Maybe one of those three but I'd be surprised if we bring in a midfielder now.

Lynch reported last night that the club are very open to selling Diaz. Obviously to fund the Gordon deal, personally I don't see that much more gain in what it would cost. I think Diaz is well worth keeping but maybe he's made it obvious he'd go if the chance is there.

If Gordon can sustain his level, it makes sense on paper.

11 goals, 10 assists in the Premier League last season from a player who will be 24 in February and may not have reached their ceiling yet. Would qualify as Home-grown.

8 goals, 5 assists in the Premier League last season from a player who will be 28 in January and is more likely to be peaking or have peaked. Would not qualify as Home-grown.

I was forgetting the home-grown element so yeah you're right. They value him at 75ish? And Diaz is valued at 60ish? Maybe that extra 15m pays off. Boyhood club could see him kick on big time?
I do think Diaz is a better player than some give him credit for, there's not many better in that mould.

I'd take Gordon for Diaz even if it was for £20M more than the Diaz fee BUT you know we'd have to sell Diaz first then Newcastle would have us over a barrel as we'd be desperate to get him in. Its got potential xfer committee fuck-up written all over it.

They valued him at £75m at a time when they needed to meet the PSR - they're not struggling in the same way now, so I imagine Gordon requiring a bid in the £100m region - though who knows.

For an extra 5 or so years of potential contribution from a player who supports the club, has higher output and is Home-grown, I would be happy to see us pay a bit of a premium for him. If you had asked me 12 months ago, treating it in isolation, if I would be happy to see us pay a record-breaking fee for us on him I probably would have laughed myself silly, but given the current market, his output and the future-proofing aspect (Diaz out, Gordon in) it may very well prove worthwhile over the course of his possible career here.

Defenders - Robertson, Tsimikas, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Sepp, Quansah, Trent, Bradley (9)

Midfielders - Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Elliott, Gravenberch, Endo, Bajcetic, Morton (8)

Forwards - Salah, Núñez, Jota, Gakpo, Diaz (5)

3+9+8+5 = 25 lads, so even if Zubimendi had come in, we'd still have had to ensure a sale or loan the other way to make a space (Bajcetic out on loan seems the most obvious, if we struggled to sell Sepp or Endo or Tsimikas let's say) for them.
Why are you inc luding players like morton that'll be nowhere near the first team?

We don't have to sell anyone, a few players just won't have a part to play and probably go out on loan

youth doesn't really count not when they're not good enough.

trying to defend FSG agian? "SQUAD FULL THAT'S Y WE BUY NOONE" JOKING PLS

    oh please

Also i'm pretty sure u21s don't need to be in the 25? and not be registered? and still be able to play. I know morton is 21 however but he won't get a look in

I don't think squad space is a problem at all.

Kev, if I offered you a glass of water on a hot day you'd call it a pro-FSG narrative - so what's to discuss with you?

Starting to worry about you Sid..

YOU have been alluding to a surplus of first team players... But many are players brought into first team football by Klopp ONLY due to a lack of fit seniors - the knock on effect of too heavy a burden on a squad with too many hard miles on the clock and a lack of genuine backing.

Also - how do you find a parallel between kev suggesting this is more of your twisting the narrative to suit what is clearly a pro FSG agenda and you offering someone water on a hot day and being told that this also is a pro FSG narrative..?

Sounds like you cannot face the prospect that F$G are a shit show. And that is ok, but the lengths you are going to try and tell us that night is day - is beyond strange.

It's almost like we didn't just bid £51m for a number 6 and get turned down.
VOTE JOCKY tae fix this fiasco.

    I said "joking"

Way to avoid the rest of my points in the post though, why are you including bajectic who's under 21 and players like morton and saying we need to shift players???

You do come across desperate trying to make excuses for this window
