Exactly. In fairness to the player, he saw what he could get from us. Apparently sociedad want him to sign a new contract, so he will want his pay rise.

Don't go getting any hopes of this transfer being back on.

Just to add, if anyone is still interested in Zubimendi news -

“At the end of July a two-man delegation from Anfield headed to San Sebastian, where they were given assurances that the player, who had previously turned down advances from Arsenal and Bayern Munich, would be willing to leave the Basque club he had joined at the age of 12,” the acclaimed journalist reported for The Times.

“The meetings lasted much of the day and involved the player’s agent, Iñaki Ibañez, and the party left believing a deal was possible, even if Zubimendi’s release clause of €60million
(£51million) was expected to be paid in one sum.”

“They told Zubimendi he would have to trigger the clause himself rather than Sociedad coming to an agreement with Liverpool.”

“In other words, he would have to force his way out of the club that means everything to him, when he wanted to walk out of the front door with their blessing.”

“He opted not to do so and that was the moment the deal collapsed.”

One would have thought he and his agent would have sorted out his pay rise before telling Liverpool to do one.

Maybe they gave him their word. Like he gave us, his word?

One has to wonder if that was the same two-man delegation or team from LFC that was sent to Brighton last summer, and who had assurances from Caicedo and his agent that a deal was in the bag, only for the player to turn around and inform everyone that he had been talking to Chelsea all along and that they were his preferred destination.

We're going to have to talk about how LFC officials keep getting taken for mugs by players and their agents with these handshake agreements they keep getting rolled on.

If they knew that it was the player that would have to trigger the release clause and force his way out of the club and that that meant they could change their mind at the last minute, what and where the hell was our plan 'B'?

What was the backup plan in this situation........that we've been in before.......for the EXACT same position that's needed addressing for the 3rd or 4th consecutive season running now?

Anyway, when does the spiritual successor to Arthur Melo arrive?
Hopefully in time for the kickoff at Ipswhich.

We have a nice spot picked out for him on the Physio's bench.

I see that despite Ten Hag’s future being no more certain than Slot’s Utd have managed to tie down Bruno Fernandes to an extended deal, yet no sign from our three in their last year. Same with Chelsea and Palmer.

Both teams have also managed to make signings to improve their relative squads.

Now I am not suggesting for one minute I want us to be run like either of the aforementioned clubs, however, how come even clubs run by absolute bell whiffs can get shit done while we sit there making excuses???

    FSG ? Jesus wept.

It’s not just cracks appearing in the rep of Edwards who was given far too much credit for what Jurgen achieved & got out of players, there’s a gaping hole in it
