If that's true I can see it doing more harm than good for a number of reasons.
He'll be earning more than three other players of ours who are better, more consistent and more integral to our success than him. I can see both Mo and VVD not being happy with that, something that is much, much more of an issue given that neither have signed a new contract at this point in time.
On top of that, given how FSG don't like spending money as it is, any money used to pay TAA an exorbitant salary is going to mean less money to buy and pay other players. Chiesa-esque transfers windows could become the norm.
TAA also hasn't seemed to have been 'focused' for quite a while. If he gets paid even more ludicrous amounts of money (never mind possibly becoming the captain) I can see him looking even more like a 'Billy big bollocks' than he sometimes already does.
