This is the way things look.
Top of the league by 6 points with a game in hand, top of the CL. On the slide yeah.

We may drop off, who knows but a draw against our biggest rivals who were coming off four defeats and a 1-0 defeat in the first leg away to Spurs does not constitute a "slide".
So in the small amount of time I've been on here you've logged every post of mine and concluded that I'm a doom monger?

Does anybody know how to post a face palm smiley or meme on this forum?

I'm a logical realist i.e. I base my views on facts and what my eyes tell me, not what placates certain individuals who cannot abide those whose views differ from their own.

Did I say we are definitely 'on the slide'? No. What I did say is that we 'could' be, just as we were last season, possibly for exactly the same reasons. Last season I came across people who said exactly what you've said about a possible slide when things started looking iffy and look how that turned out.

Are we in a fantastic position in terms of our current standing in all the competitions we're currently in? Yes of course we are. We're in a position every fan would have bitten your hand off for at the start of the season, but as the saying goes, "It's not how you start that matters, but how you finish".

I really hope that this is just a small blip and we'll look like our old selves very soon, but if anybody isn't concerned about how we've looked in the last few games, I really don't know what to say.

Should have been taken off at about 10 minutes (at most) after the haftime restart.

There must be something wrong with Elliot (fitness-wise), is the only reason or explanation I can come up with for why Slot didn't do so.

Or maybe he would have taken him off and brought on Endo if he hadn't been forced to bring on Endo earlier for the injured Quansah.

Ironically, Endo was one of the few players who gave a good account of themselves with his performance stepping in for Quansah and playing CB. In those couple of minutes playing there he had what seems like one the best performances as Virg's CB partner back there.
    Very assured, composed and reliable.

In any case, ....yeah,....Jones needs to do some serious soul-searching about these "invisible man" performances of his lately.

    Indeed.
You can just see someone's IQ dropping precipitously off a cliff as soon as sentiments and statements like that come out.

    But it shouldn't be surprising.
It just makes me wonder if any of these people actually know or appreciate anything about not just the city of Liverpool, but the people as well.

It doesn't take much of a genius to figure out what Shanks would have thought about someone like Elon Musk, much less the thought of him owning the club.

I think Jones and Macca Don't work together. Its either a 3 of Grav Macca and szoboszlai. Or Jones for Mac Allister, with the other 2. I don't think Jones is a number 10 not with Jota in the team. Macca and Jones are two midfielders that like to run late into the opposition half.. otherwise sit and help out Gravenberch

Slot has been very lucky so far , playing this slow rhythm from the back. I hope his luck carries us forward but I see a bleak long term future .
In my opinion we need to replace (after this season) Salah, VVD, Trent, Jones, Harvey, Chiesa ,Schymy, Darwin, and Endo.
We can still do well this season but unless there is MASSIVE investment we will have a long spell in the wilderness.
    Happy New Year.
Shhhh!!! Keep your voice down! With views like that the LFC Online Gestapo will be after you if you're not careful. Are they always this touchy if you don't toe the party line?

I'm assuming there's no "away goals" rule any more and that if we win the return leg 1-0 or 2-1 we're going to go into extra-time or penalties?

He walked off looking grand to my eye, but as our ACL specialist Sids pointed out before that can be misleading.

Good news if a bit bizarre. Still would like us to replace Matip this window. Gomez is back in February and he's a good option on either side at fullback.

Whilst people bemoan the performance/result, I thought it was grand enough given the weekends rumblings.

I don't have an issue with the lack of sending off. its one of them things where it can go either way.It wasnt exactly a Kane on Robertson challenge from a few seasons ago. I dunno what Endo was doing to allow the Spurs player to run past him..Anyway we had enough back to stop the goal..Maybe most of the players are unwell.Being poorly does drain you physically.
I still think we'll get past them in the next leg though
