We had a bid accepted by Brighton - £111m I believe - Chelsea I think paid £115m in the end - and there was definitely a dick-measuring contest happening around it as Boehly and Henry have previous with each other.

Some fans ask where the money "went" - we'll still be capable of accessing funds, however I would be pretty damn surprised if we were committing any large expenditure in January given we don't have 100% assurances on the contracts for the big three. If two (or Heaven forbid three) of those players leave, you'll not want to have already smashed the proverbial piggy-bank open.

Not to mention that budgeting for a likely overall increase in the wage bill (Van Dijk, Salah, Trent, possible boost in wages for Konate and Diaz within the next 12 months) is around the corner.

That's as far into the subject as I'll delve for now as I've not been sleeping right for a couple of weeks.

Sleep well Reds. With luck we will be basking in the flow of victory tomorrow - huge week for us.

Hardly just for a laugh - Mané was off and Bobby was barely making the starting 11 and half way out the door. 2/3rds of our mainstay front threat was all but gone. And it was wise to spend the money on the front line. Ok Darwin hasn’t lived up to his fee BUT we have not suffered too much of a dip up front. Actually spent the wonga that was needed. It’s the rest of the team that has been totally neglected.

panic summer in 2023.. The one where the Caicedo and Lavia detritus was served up.

The defence - and I mean CEntral defenders - has been untouched bar the capture - a year too late - of France under 21 recruit Konate… since January 2018!!!! That’s frigging nuts.

So let’s not be too quick to defend the hoodwinkers who are using the club as a cash cow.

Whilst this summer it seems Zubimendi essentially fell at the final hurdle. Opting for Sociedad his boyhood club instead of LFC.
We didnt sign anyone in January 2024 in the summer we signed Chiesa and now its January 2025. it could be 3 transfer windows with 1 signing

That's kind of my point. The £100m offer for Caicedo is being offered up as some sort of ruse to placate fans and that it wasn't a 'serious' offer. Yet when we've identifed the targets we've wanted we've usually paid decent money if neccessary. We have a squad littered with £30m+ signings.

I agree that as a club we're a bit 'arse about face' in the way we assemble the squad. We don't properly fill holes when neccessary and take identified players as and when they're available rather than fix immediate issues.

All bollox I know .. well probably but

We’re apparently holding out for £85m for Nunez.

If we got our money back on Darwin, it would equal the feat of getting £145m for Coutinho. It would be massive and allow us to drive straight up the A1 and pick up Alexander Isak

No fuck it… get some petrol in that helicopter

Although more likely than Isak, we have been speaking to FC Nurnberg about a 19 year old Greek lad, Tzimas, who’s amassed an amazing 8 goals in 14 appearances in Bundesliga 2

NOt sure that works tho. Nunez was a low risk spend. Young lad banging them in for fun in a weaker Latin league - even now rumoured that we have been offered £70 million from Saudi for him. No huge risk at all... little chance we don't get back most of what we paid.

It's the risk category that Klopp spoke about. That's where a manager gets a breather. You won't get that with buy-to-let owners who only care about the bottom line.

Now transfer expert Romano has confirmed that interest in the ‘important’ Liverpool player from the Saudi Pro League is genuine having revealed talks over a deal had been held.

“What I can confirm at the moment is only that interest from Saudi in Darwin Nunez is genuine,” Romano told his YouTube channel. There have been conversations to understand the situation of Darwin, the price tag and all these sorts of things.

“For sure there is interest. For sure, there is something in terms of contacts from Saudi, but at the moment there is not something advanced or concrete in terms of negotiations.”

That information conflicts with an update from Anfield Watch, who claims Liverpool have ‘rejected an extraordinary first offer’ for Nunez, worth around £70m (€83.3m, $85.6m).

Yep - lowest of low risks this one a forward too.

Check out these big riskers.. Endo.. Minimino.. Chiesa... Davies..Melo...Kabak.. Thats' just (Chiesa apart) what Klopp needed to go fight City.
