He won’t mate , I was absolutely buzzing for him , would love it to work for him but it would of happened by now , he is way to inconsistent and misses way to many chances , there’s been a few false dawns where you think , right he’s going to build on this now and then he does nothing for 6-8 games , just hope he manages to do what he did a few more times before the end of the season
He certainly doesn't look like he will become Torres 2.0 and I say this despite being a huge, huge fan of watching the guy.
I maintain that he gets much too harshly criticised at times though.
24 goals and 13 assists in 81 League matches (or 37 goal-scoring contributions in 81 matches if you will) may not be enough for folks and I understand that, but it's worth providing the caveat that 33 of those appearances came from the bench - 48 of them were starts.
Available a lot and works hard - also absolute Dynamite from a pure entertainment perspective for me due to the unpredictability.
I'm pretty accepting of what he is, but even if he doesn't become the absolute predator that his pace and physique should enable him to do, I see no reason why he can't improve that extra 10% or so under Slot as he enters his peak years.
We have 6 forward options at the moment. If that remains the case over the coming years, I do hope he remains one of them. His occupation of defenders leads to opportunities for those around him and simply being available through lack of injury is something not to underestimate given that Chiesa and Jota are two of the other lads.
Brilliant stuff
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
you know if chiesa actually stays fit, I reckon he could end up being a bargain, he's been class in his career at times, could be another Maxi for us?
Hopefully he starts getting minutes now. Even if it's just twenty or so at the end of a game. It's another good option for us, he, Elliot and Nunez clearly made the difference on Saturday.
I think that's what gives us the edge right now. Our attacking options are plentiful whereas Arsenal are depleted.
Arne Slot reveals Diogo Jota injury issue – will be out for “weeks not months”.. so not back before the start of Feb by the looks of it..
