Point is - unless we are going to spend what is needed - we have no choice. That is why a Zubimendi would have been superb this summer. I think you would see what are from Grav only more advanced..

IMO - Klopp would have had Caicedo up there at the top table. The lad is raw untamed quality but lost and totally disillusioned at Chelsea - knows he went to the wrong club....trust me ..So many players careers vanish at the wrong club or under the wrong manager. Not saying it's our fault he never came BTW just that we need that level..

We need to get serious or we will over stretch the next group Klopp assembled.

We need more experienced players.and players who aren't necessarily 'world beaters', but the type who can consistently put in 7/10 performances.

Unfortunately we still have too many inconsistent players who put in one or two decent performances but then put in a few poor performances, often after they've had an OTT amount of praise or hype lavished upon them.

Yeah it's crazy i'm all for supporting players but i'm sick of pundits overhyping players or fans.

So many youngsters get overhyped here, and they end up playing in league 2 or below

Time to face the music, the academy the money spent on it, is currently not returning the investment, we need to look at a few other clubs, I.E arsenal, I don't think the scouting is the best either, if we're looking at cheap players because of FSG init, we need to be looking at south american leagues and the likes. Seems like we can produce right backs at least.

Other young lads in the team now, we got in from elsewhere when young, not exactly our academy.. obviously there's a few but not enough for me, or talent in the youth, not for a club top of the table, and how big we are.

We have plenty of experienced consistent players & plenty of squad players who play with consistency when in a team of most of the best 11

Plymouth was a cup game of a cobbled together side, that’s it

How much do you think it costs to run the academy?
If we were to sell Trent, Kelleher, Quansah, and Bradley tomorrow and that's just 4 players the academy has produced, not including Bajcetic, Doak,Williams, Phillips, Van den berg,Neco Williams, Harry Wilson,Awoniyi there's others that's went through the academy that we've got money for.
Sorry Kev but the academy produces very good footballers.

that was years ago, and better than what we produce now that's for sure.

Bradley the only name of note, last few years.

other clubs do better, most you've listed are average and come in from elsewhere

We want academy players that are good enough to become first team regulars for us, not players who aren't good enough or are surplus to requirements and are then sold, with that money contributing towards increasing our owners wealth rather than being used to improve our squad.

A few days back I posted the squad that Klopp inherited. There were loads of youngsters and academy players in it. The only one of those youngsters and academy players still with us is Joe Gomez, and even he hasn't exactly been a roaring success at times.

Joe Gomez has hundreds of appearances and has won everything in the game playing under five or even six LFC managers. Kind of goes against your argument.
