I never said that we should get rid of Gomez. All I said was that of the youth and academy players that Klopp inherited, only Gomez remains and that even he hasn't been what many would describe as being 'a roaring success' i.e. he hasn't cemented a place in our first XI, and when he has played he has been prone to making errors despite having some good games and being able to play in a couple of different positions.

As for Quansah, he is another player that has very quickly got an OTT amount of hype and praise. Just like Gomez he has had a few decent games here and there, but he's also prone to making errors. He's young and there's still a chance he could be a success, but if I were a betting man I wouldn't put much money on that happening despite me wanting every one of our players to be a success.

I've repeatedly said that I want a number of additions to our backline. Who exactly those players would be I don't know other than say a Kerkez at LB. I don't watch more than the odd game when it comes to teams other than our own, but you cannot tell me that there isn't a few players out there capable of putting in a solid performance most weeks who for example could step in when either big Virg or Konate are missing or need a rest.

Gomez does exactly what you're asking for,he's proved it more than enough the last few years.
He's been a fantastic player for Liverpool.

We do need another CB but if one does arrive then Gomez leaves without a doubt so that leaves us needing two CBs. We all know how unlikely that is under these owners and that's before any possibility or necessity of Quansah maybe going on loan somewhere to develop. So there's a robbing Peter to pay Paul argument there I think.

We have the best defensive record in the league albeit by one goal so we are not doing too badly despite some obvious improvements being needed.

We shouldn’t forget Neco Williams either. Won a Premier League medal and earned the club £17m when he joined Forest where he’s still a starter. I liked the lad a lot and still wonder where it all went wrong having just signed a long term contract.
