Twenty years ago Rafa was slammed when his under-strength Reds lost 1-0 at Burnley in the FA Cup.....

A few months later, following a famous night in Istanbul, nobody mentioned Turf Moor.....

The pressures and demands for success at a Club like ours are too great to afford youngsters the opportunity to, learn on the job… they need to be pretty close to the finished article to succeed, if they are not, new better more capable players will be demanded by Fans and team members alike… can you imagine if we didn't sign Suarez because one of the Academy players were showing promise…

That can work at other Clubs were the expectations aren’t so high, but at Liverpool, that’s never going to happen, if it did, it would be a slippery slope to mediocrity… no room for sentiment, if there is someone available affordable and better than you in your position, see ya…

Our history of players who fell foul of that philosophy, happened time and time again with consistent regularity… it’s a tough business to stay at the top, thats for sure.. and Liverpool FC know that more than almost everyone else, hence our position as the most successful club in the UK and only behind Real Madrid (15) and AC Milan (7) on the European stage…

Needed the cash / poor club, Think due to our poor revenues we wouldn’t have been able to buy Chiesa this summer had we not sold - insert name

Like "new signings"... And you know that's how it'll be spun by the Boston Stranglers

We would have had to hold onto Solanke for more than a little longer, it was like 5 years after we sold him that he started to blossom and most fans don't have that kind of patience (see Quansah, Elliott, Jones et al)

We had other forwards. Firmino for instance and obviously Mane and Salah either side.. Solanke had to go to get games..

NOPE...Huge exaggeration. Within less than 3 years he was scoring for fun at Bournmouth. Would have seen his quality far sooner than that had he stayed with us. We like to use players like chips on a poker table.

Solanke is another Chelsea academy player - forgot to add him to that list - Chelsea's academy puts most to shame really. Probably will decline now that Boehly is calling the shots. Many at Cobham already noticing cut backs.

Well okay, 2 years then, my mistake. But our fans generally won't wait that long for a player.

And it took more like 5 years for him to be linked to any big clubs, or for any of our fans to feel a pang of regret for selling him.

I think Rhian Brewster was a Chelsea boy too, don't know if he's been mentioned.
