We are and I have just read that gakpo has been ruled out for the villa game. Paul Joyce reporting that gakpo won't make it.

Villa have their own issues as well they have a few defenders out, although kings did return on Saturday. Watkins also returned on Saturday. But they have also signed 3 (I think) new players in january that will raring to go.

This will be a tough one.

    Why not Endo?

    He's not some paraplegic potato!

Is it in Chiesa's contract that he can only play cup games?

It's the same with any of the lads in the squad.

They can come in from time to time. I'm not advocating that Endo or Chiesa play every game, and of course if we lost VVD and Salah for a stretch we'd struggle but they can surely play the odd game?

We got within two or three games of winning it last season with Endo in the middle, along with Bobby Clark and Quansah for large stretches of the season.

We've had nowehere near the injuries we had last season so we could have rotated far more this season. There's absolutely no reason we should be cabbaged at this point of the season.

I still think yesterday's game is more of a hangover from the Everton game rather than a more general malaise within the squad.

I agree. Quansah made a game saving tackle yesterday, I hope that gives him a lift. I'm not advocating him starting over Ibou but they have to be used at some point.
Endo did a decent job too. Even he comes on for half an hour to take the burden it's something.
It's obvious Grav and Mac are leggy. There's an international break soon too so they'll get no rest.

And that is why not endo. The quality drops off once we rotate, that's why slot hasn't.

You would think chiesa could play the odd the league game but I don't think slot fancies him. Maybe when the weather gets warmer.

The quality of the squad simply isn't good enough to allow a lot of rotation but I think we will have to do it for the next 3 games.

my post dissapeared but yeah, I don't see what some people see in him, I like his work ethic that's it really, there's a lack of quality compared to others

who would he play for in the top 4-6 in the prem?

That's the difference between FSG and others, sadly.... that CDM at city for example, looks good and could be a very good long-term replacement for Rodri... we have bargain buys and free players or injury crooks to make up the numbers, bargains don't always get you far.... i mean... you do sometimes get what you pay for.

Think he'll be the first out the door, seeing how slot is with him.

We're very lucky with injuries so far, touch wood apart from the usual suspects

    Alisson
    Bradley Konate VVD Tsimikas
    Szoboszlai Endo Jones
    Salah Jota Nunez

We simply have to give Gravenberch a rest, his last two performances have been no better than a fresh Endo would produce.

Endo was also part of why it went tits up. Can't carry that lack of pace for long. Not in this league. Dependable tick - and is actually a centre back - maybe fit for Bundesliga in midfield Although Stuttgart's rapid & meteoric rise from bottom of the league - to virtually the very top - in his absence - tells another story.

Another player brought in on emergency due to not landing top targets.

That Klopp magic will only last so long.

Understandable if he were to be our main man in midfield for the season. And I agree he's not a first team player, but we're talking about him filling in from time to time to give Grav a rest. Maybe 4 or 5 league games.

We can win games (as we did last season) with a midfield of Endo, Mac and Szobo.
