A fantastic result away in Paris against a very young side that completely and utterly outplayed us in every department except between the sticks.

Their goal - was a thing of beauty and an inch offside?. 7 times in 10 Konate walks so early in a game we could have been 2 or 3 goals behind in.

Alisson = master class.. and yes but for him we get totally smashed.
If it were Mourinho it would be getting lauded as so. No doubt about it. He's had plenty of those as have other managers.
We were technically outclassed but we are not the first team to be so and get a result, sometimes that's what is required. Not much we can do about the fact they didn't put the ball in the net and there weren't many clear cut chances for them.
Our defending was resolute even if everything else was all over the place
Lots of people saying "if it wasn't for Alisson". He's part of the team, that's exactly what he's there for so it shouldn't be a slight.
We got lucky with the red card absolutely, lucky overall and will have to be much better next week and even if we are it's still very much a game we could lose because PSG are very capable of winning convincingly.

By whom? Idiot pundits possibly. But there is no design there at all.

We play another game like that and it ends as it did last time in Naples.

And yes Alisson is part of the team but he has never performed like that before and you can’t expect it again.

Most of you in here would be lambasting United for a performance like that in Paris - had De Gea done what Alisson did.

Master class…? Imo anyone calling it that is having us on. never that in a million years - a disaster class with a goal keeper who refused to be beaten - and even then we still needed good luck on 2 calls

Yeah, it certainly wasn't a masterclass. Though I did think we defended ok and were much better defensively in the 2nd half.

We were terrible with the ball.

Who would have thought (Ali withstanding) that Trent would be the 'rock' at the back!

Slot was disappointed that we didn’t have a game last weekend and you can see why… we lacked any kind of rhythm and looked a yard off the pace all over the pitch. Hopefully we’ll have our mojo back on Tuesday, surely we can’t be worse.

I'm not personally saying it was a masterclass, just that under certain managers it would be called that I think. Especially with those subs that got the goal.

If Real had performed like that it gets the "that's what the good teams can do" play bad and get a result "they know how to get a result". There has to be credit for keeping out a team who had that much possession, we got some luck with the Konate decision but you cannot be lucky for a full 90+ minutes.
Alisson kept us in the game but that's literally his job, wether he had the game of his life or not is irrelevant. Some opposition fans say we'd be nothing without Salah. We might well be but it's a completely moot point because we're not without him.

I wonder what Slot said to them at half time. He obviously will not have been remotely happy about our use of the ball but I wonder if he knew we couldn't go toe to toe which will be all the more interesting for next week. PSG won't change their approach.

Have you seen Real perform like that? less than 30% of the ball?

We were poor. You would hope we can perform better at Anfield. They really outclassed us if we're honest and we were lucky at times. We also didn't help ourselves. Amazing really that we got a win there. On the bright side, there were many times we overran teams in the past and lost or drew despite numerous chances. Maybe this season despite not playing scintillating stuff we will get the results but not the performances.

No but regardless of that they occasionally get results when not playing well in Europe. They've not been dominated like that last night but they have been second best a few times in recent years and got out of it with a late show.

I think our defence deserves a little more credit than what it's been given that's all I'm saying.

That's also the fourth time this season we've gone away to teams with excellent records or on an excellent run and stopped them.

Ok tees - I get what you are saying but I have to say - I am not sure it make s much sense.

Let's credit the defence that forced our keeper to make 8 world class saves on the night to stop a bucketful of goals..

It wasn't our defence really was it - it was our entire 10 outfield players in a low block. Relegation fodder do that all the time. And they do get credited at times but I always say bah.. Any team can do that from time to time when they just don't come out.

At PSV we were beaten - Granted they were the bestest home side on the planet - until a few nights ago . joke...... not sure what other behemoth sides we have gone away to and won. Certainly last night we deserved a spanking - so how that equates with a good defensive display I will never know.

PSG had a single one on one in the whole game. The rest were from range or shots where the defence were in front of them. The Barcola chance after Dembeles 1 on 1 has three defenders in the way. Same as the only other clear chance they had with Neves.
If we had played like that there would be plenty probably including myself saying we just weren't good enough if front of goal. To have that many shots at goal and not get one through at some point they take some heat for not converting.
We were battered but also organised. Maybe not by design but they did what they had to and that's what I think deserves a bit of credit.

I'm not saying I'd like to see us do that much, it's awful to watch but against a team like that coupled with how poor we were when having the ball it's just what was necessary on the night and I'd take it any day if it means a result in Europe.

The other sides Lille, Bournemouth and Leverkusen may not be behemoths but were all on great unbeaten runs. Once might be lucky but to do it four times in a season is impressive I think.
