Exactly. Under Klopp as well we tried to stay in every competition to the detriment of the league. I remember us beating City in the FA cup but a few days before we only managed to draw in the league. That was where we lost titles. you can't compete on every front with a small squad. That year we won the two smaller trophies and lost the big ones.

Slot has played almost the same 11 week in week out and we've got an even smaller squad than Klopp had in terms of quality replacements. Also the first 11 is depleted and older.

Shankly always said the league is the bread and butter. It would be amazing to win the league again only five years since Klopp did. After waiting 30 years for the first one this would be fantastic. Let's not lose the significance of that in the overall picture.

Hopefully we get a fairer draw in the champions league as well.. we topped the table and ended up getting PSG who might go onto win it.. I fancy them to get past Villa and Madrid/Arsenal..

Yeah, what a reward for topping the "league". If we'd got Benfica, Feyenoord or someone we'd be looking at a quarter final now.

I agree with all of what you typed.. Knock out comps are called that because you lose a game you are out.. no coming back.. we have lost 1 game this season in the league. Proves we have been the best team.
We played the kids against Plymouth and got a very good PSG and Newcastle sides .. Its all about learning.. when we go up against these teams again.. I have 100% confidence in Slot. that'll he get his tactics right in future games. I thought he was wrong in both PSG and Newcastle games.

We've lost 1 game in the league this season. Worst Premier league winners ever ,apparently. (That's if we win it ) according to some.

Well not the league's fault PSG had some surprisingly bad results.

I think 8 games is too much of a small sample for it to be... like a proper league though, obviously that can't be helped.

For example another 8 games- I very much doubt we'd have played PSG

    is what it is.

None of what they say will matter if we lift a 20th League - and we'll better poised to reach that 21st one than anyone.

Hard to know how many seasons it will take exactly, but there is every chance we will be front-runners for Leagues lifted, European Cups won and League Cups won by an English side, simultaneously.

Hell of an achievement of we do it and winning a League title this season will be a big step in that direction. The FA Cup needs work, but we are doing well.

Soon as we got PSG that wasn't going to happen, especially as real madrid will probably win it.

Maybe if was wasn't "tired" we'd have beat PSG but yeah, and certain players didn't suddenly go to shit and worse than Nunez (Jota) then obviously 120...... then league cup, yeah it was predictable.

Hopefully next year we go out league cup asap rather stay in the fa cup for a bit.
I think the quadruple/treble talk has come from us being one of the few teams to be challenging for the league and still in cups (until last week), I don't think any serious Liverpool fan was expecting it.

But it's fine margins, we went out of all the cups on penalties or a one goal margin. (could have been worse!)

When it comes to domestic cups I know a lot of fans want "a good cup run" but I'm of the opinion that we either win the thing or duck out early. I think Slot was right to field a weaker team against Plymouth but hey.

Who knocked us out last year over 2 legs - remind me. What Behemoth?

We do all get carried away in here and predict scenarios before the fact.

We have a great points lead in the league - it’s brilliant but we are 3 points ahead of last term - carrying 12 senior injuries - playing Thursday Sunday - and competing with a plus 90pt City and an 89 points Arsenal…

This season should not be viewed without at least factoring in the other realities. City have vanished and Arsenal have been unable to capitalise. How much of that is through their injuries OR simply a mental fragility - is anyone’s guess.

But we have many issues around the squad - and have had good fortune to have escaped any serious injury do date… Any title that arrives is mainly down to Klopp’s team & Slots stewardship all of it despite the owners NOT because of their inexcusable weak backing.
