Totally agree with both posts. It's nothing something we do (or used to anyway). I've seen it being done and called out when Ziege came back as a Spurs player and once when Murphy came back. Different situations but same sentiment ( or lack of) involved.

Day tripping is as fine as long as you know your history but the modern fan these days is simply not arsed to read up about the history of the clubs they follow.

I guess today he felt he needed to get bradley off, but he should have had an idea that trent would be booed. If he went weith another player instead of Trent, then he would be getting questioned anyway.

Best thing would have been a statement from the club after trents announcement, to say trent won't be involved in games for rest of season.
To provide some balance too Trent's decision to announce it with a few games left is a bizarre one.
Maybe he didn't expect such a reaction to the announcement?
Have Real coerced him to do it to ensure they get him before this deadline for the world club tournament?
Obviously like I've said I don't condone booing and everyone has their slant on it but his timing of the announcement is odd for me.
I won't be surprised if he's not involved in the parade which will be a great shame for him and the fans.

Maybe he wants to join Madrid for the club world cup?.. thats why he announced it.. can't see any other reason why he couldn't have left it until the club had the bus celebration around Anfield.
Be interesting to see if he goes before the allotted time to join up with Madrid..

Trent’s a big boy, he made his decision to take a dump on the club. Fans who pay their money have a right to voice their opinion.

I'd say a mixture of everything:
    1. Id say he expected a different reaction from the fans. I think doing the video he thought people would celebrate him.
    2. Madrid wanting him for the club world cup. Within a day of the announcement the rumours started about Madrid wanting him.

For him personally it looks like the wrong move to announce before the end of the season.

For us as a team it looks the wrong decision because it is starting overshadow what should be a party and celebration.

As for the game, the less said the better. Thank fuck we got it sewn up when we did. It still hurts but at least there’s no real damage. Last game of the season can’t come soon enough.

Agreed - Southern nails it again. Reasoned and balanced as usual.

It’s virtually verbatim my response to my son when he asked my feelings on the whole Trent situation

Think you shouldn't boo a player wearing the shirt. Just keep it quiet. And I am one of those who think Trent was a selfish self centred cunt for running down his contract for 18 months, meaning the club which nurtured him get nothing and he gets a big pay day.
