Maguire dribbled past no one this evening and ran out of play with the ball. so everyone has a bad day at the office.

Speaking of Trent anyway. was he always this bad at defending?? up until the season he made an error in the champions league final.. the season/s previously he never seemed that bad,, or was he?

Watch the Roma 4:2 game. He was young so it seems harsh - but watch that game and wonder at how we progressed.

You asked if he was always this bad at defending. Doubtful he makes it under most managers - certainly in a defensive role - but he wasn’t deemed good enough in midfield either. Klopp took the risk and it payed off. Once Klopp left - Trent was leaving in short order. He owes his career to Jurgen in many ways.

While his passing and creativity will be sorely missed, we will undoubtedly be tighter at the back and less vulnerable to the counter.
Some of Trent’s defensive play was absolutely diabolical at times and I don’t just mean him being the most dribbled past defender in Europe’s top 5 leagues in three consecutive seasons, how many lazy sloppy square balls did he play in his own half?

Trent going is not a disaster, him leaving on a free is the shocker.

To be fair I am completely nonplussed by the whole Wharton hype, I’ve seen him have a couple of shockers when I’ve watched Palace this season.
As for Nkunku… don’t be silly.

Trent was going before Klopp made his mind up to leave LFC.

His defending improved markedly from his debut. He's been in regression for a while at LFC.
