Really, on that premise Marketing is a waste of time…

Personally, I dont think any club buys players based on You Tube clips, but if some naďve supporters had their way, they would like them too… 🫣

My comment about Utd was a tongue in cheek remark, but given the performances of their recent purchases maybe Utd’s Transfer team did rely on YouTube rather than carrying out a proper approach through due diligence.

Villa?! Just seen that Martinez is wanted by Man Utd so this makes more sense.

And he would suit them. (and probably better than Onana)

Marketing...? That's quite different. But Marketing departments will often try to latch on to this kind of throw away comment.

I was just highlighting the fact that the overused adage 'anyone can look world class on YouTube' isn't really true. I mean for kids maybe..and the uninitiated - BUT...if you know the level being played - the level of the opponent, the stage and the era.. then 'world class' touch, passing, vision and execution either is or it isn't. You can't fake it.

You can only edit what is there. You might make a YouTube video that attempts to match Luis Suarez' brilliance in World Cups, The Premier League or La Liga - by cutting in play from the lower leagues - reserves games or academy level... But who does it fool?

Absolutely - he'll need to get certain ideas into their heads. If they both played in their current styles we would need the midfield to cover a lot, which to be fair the already do.

Stuff to look forward to anyway, especially if both arrive. I'd be very hesitant to say "Frimpong will be better than Trent" as Trent is a bit of a Unicorn with his passing, but I could see Kerkez+Frimpong working out (collectively) better than current Robbo+Trent (emphasis on current, their peak was wild) so to be potentially (?) upgrading a title-winning side is exciting.

    Hopefully more to come.

Here's Busquets showing WHY Barcelona - with Iniesta and Xavi had a midfield that would have dominated Europe almost as well without Messi as it did with him. You cannot fake this and will struggle to find another DM in recent years to compare. You could try using clips from lower leagues etc but you still won't match this, certainly not verses the level of opposition he is destroying.

Busquets could have played the game with his slippers on. A criminally underrated player.

That midfield three was just phenomenal. The opposition are just chasing shadows for 90 minutes. Add little Leo in and you have no chance.

Greatest team ever imo. Pretty much faultless. Maybe the only weak areas were at goalkeeper and possibly Pique. The rest were top-drawer, all time greats.

Yep - imo you can see it clearly when they are world class.

Here's another - even better player technically than Busquets..were he Spanish, Portuguese , Argentinian, Brazilian - Italian - English or German - he would be one of 4 or 5 rated as 'as good as they get' from that early 1990's Yugoslavia team that were - robbed of a Euro's and ridiculously good.

Xavi was a huge miss to that Barca side, only winning 1 CL title after he left with Neymar, Suarez and Messi up top under Enrique.

The little general behind both Barca & Spanish successes.

Hope the Kerkez deal comes off - I'd be fascinated to see how Slot tweaks things if we end up with both Kerkez and Frimpong as that (depending on how they are deployed and how midfield is shaped to cover) could be a ludicrously attacking set-up and getting the balance to avoid being hit in transitions could be key.
Would love to see a bit of ludicrous attacking. We were a bit boring to watch this season. Missing the gung-ho of Klopp's teams. Maybe Slot will put a more attacking spin on things in the coming season.
