Good, I wonder how we will deal with Konate then?? he will need to play some games. or its unlikely he will get picked for the France world cup squad. And if we allow him to leave for free next summer. I wonder how committed he will be when he plays for us?. Its a difficult scenario.. i hope we get Konate to sign on longer....And If we lose Quansah and get Guehi . Be almost the same when it comes for fees.. still think we need a 4th centre back.. Maybe we could get Hato. he can play centre back and left back. then let Tsimikas and Roberson both leave.. One things for sure.. be probably the busiest summer transfer for a very long time
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
Progresses the ball very well and wins plenty of defensive duels.
A minor concern (for much later) that I would have would be a post-VVD landscape where we have Kerkez/Guehi/Frimpong as three of our back four when defending set pieces - we could do with getting a bit more height into parts of the side - but it's hardly the end of the World overall.
As much as I think Quansah is a good defender and the potential to be an excellent defender, Guehi is an upgrade.
Assuming Gomez stays, Guehi will be fighting with Konate as first choice partner for VVD and Joe will be 4th choice.
They're not mucking around this season!
Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
I wonder if we will have a buy back/sell on clause in Quansah's deal?
(not that I think Tent Peg will turn him into the next van Dijk but you never know)
Despite alleged interest from several clubs I can't see us shipping out Gomez in a hurry if we are selling Robertson as well, given Joe's versatility and homegrown status. I've just read his 10 year instagram message which sounded like an emotional goodbye but ends “A decade in red… and still hungry to keep going.”
If Quansah is going for (allegedly) £34m and we got Guéhi for - let's say, £40m rising to £45m -then we will have conducted excellent business.
Guehi not looking likely according to sky. Wants assurances of being a first team starter.
Plenty of time though so that could and probably will change.
Liverpool have agreed a £40m deal to sign left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
