Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
Jeezus wept
There are various reports going around that Newcastle want to sign Ekitike after trying to sign him in 2022.
Ekitike to Newcastle -> Isak to Liverpool?
Or they are playing games to get the price up for Ekitike up,so we lay off Isak.
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
I honestly think we'll sign Isak. Not one credible journalist has poured cold water on it, Newcastle are actively pursuing players despite sailing close to the wind in PSR.
If Liverpool get the green light I think they'll go for him.
Just my hunch like so probably way wide of the bark. Ah lol.
You never know, though I'd be pleasantly surprised.
We've already spent £190m this Summer so you'd imagine we need to make a few sales to bring our net spend down a bit, as we will need to allow for spending in some of the upcoming windows for a few reasons, such as trying to continue to strengthen and eventually replacing Van Dijk and Salah - which won't come cheap.
We also need to make sales on account of our non-Homegrown player list. If I forget anyone, let me know, but as it stands I think we are sitting on 17 lads right now and it would be prudent to sell first as a precaution in case any deals fell through and we are stuck with a lad or two that we can't register, which would be a serious waste of wages.
Alisson
Mamardashvili
Van Dijk
Konaté
Robertson
Tsimikas
Mac Allister
Gravenberch
Szoboszlai
Endo
Wirtz
Salah
Diaz
Núñez
Chiesa
It's easy to say "we probably sell...." about some of these lads - one of Tsimikas or Robbo, Núñez is one we are keen to move on, Slot seemingly doesn't rate Chiesa, Diaz linked with a move etc.....but making some of those sales for prices we are comfortable with may not be easy - Italian clubs certainly aren't likely to give us what we want for Núñez for example, so any potential transfer for Isak you'd think is on the back-burner, especially given the discomfort we have with planning around the Diaz and Konaté situations.
Isak would be wonderful, really would, but there are a couple of hurdles before we even arrive at whether or not Newcastle would part with him - not to mention that we absolutely have to future-proof our centre-back situation as soon as humanly possible before, which is a further complicated of the Konaté nonsense.
We're so close to having a ridiculous squad, but still some hurdles yet.
I know this is a horrible topic, but in light of what had happened to Diogo is there any relaxing of the PSR rules for such tragic situations
I'm not sure of the PSR rules. Under FFP I'd imagine Jota's passing would be processed like a free transfer.
Under FFP whilst a player leaving on a free transfer generates no fee, the club can write off the value of the player and it acts like a spending credit.
For example with Trent, had we not taken the 10 mill fee, we could have written him off for say €70 mill.
By getting 10 mill in cash we are better off in the bank. But worse off in ability to spend under FFP.
Had we lost him on a free, we would be able to count him as a 70 mill player, and a 70 mill credit. Able to spend more under FFP but worse off in the bank.
We've lost a fair few on free transfers in recent years. Origi, Bobby, Keita, Gini, Ox.
