I think you're exactly right. He's pretty much thrown the game in a way in order to keep everyone for Saturday but it's put more pressure on him.
If it becomes 10 defeats in 11 I think FSG would act. They'll be concerned we don't make the top four even though it's early. Spending all that money and not making top four would be an absolute disaster.

With each defeat I've expected a reaction the following game. Aside from Frankfurt who keys be honest were absolutely shocking there hasn't been any reaction at all
Saturday needs to be a turning point. Players need to stand up now.

Who is saying he is the saviour? What I am saying is he worked his arse off and had zero support - literally nothing all night, He doesn’t get the minutes and the gets that as game in which to shine. Super harsh. At least he will have got some valuable match fitness.

Chiesa isn't going to fix things.

Was thinking the same. Slot can't be using 'looking after his fitness' or 'he's not ready for 90mins' bollocks anymore. He toiled away for 95 minutes with zero support in the pissing rain.

    He's been treated appallingly.

He'll have to be gone before we play forest after the international break if we lose the next 3.

Agreed kev, but I think he is a sign of what people are frustrated with when it comes to slot at the moment. We have out of form players, playing week in week out. Chiesa at least works his arse off when he plays and has contributed when he has come on. Yet he is never given a starting spot with the full team.

    Recent interview snippets -

“First of all, I’m honoured to have such a big support from the fans, because we’re talking about Liverpool fans”

“I do feel that I can give a bit of leadership on the pitch, because I’m 28 and we have a lot of players that are around 24, or like Florian [Wirtz] just 22."

“Last year I wasn’t fit enough. I wasn’t mentally ready and I didn’t play. I was totally OK with it because I wasn’t up to speed with the other lads. This year, as soon as we started, I felt better physically and mentally. I have played more and I still need to play more to reach the level"[required].

“I was playing a lot when I won the Euros. I’m a different player now, but I like where I’m going and I like the fact I have improved in many aspects of my game, apart from the fact I have lost a bit of speed."

“For me, the most important thing is to work harder and then try to get the win. I hope there’s not going to be any trouble in the future.”

The comments on last year are interesting.

Hope he gets more minutes. He isn't going to be a 10-goals-in-10-games "Machine" for us but if he was working how he did last night when playing in a side containing Szoboszlai etc then our collective pressing might actually improve a bit.

He's never going to drop salah though as he can come up with moments randomly (See against brentford)

    it is what it is.
