I think pretty much as expected by most of us on here, but little stories like this are starting to leak out. Start of a crisis inside the club once they start turning on each other.

I would guess the same happened with a cb. The upper level wouldn't give that extra 5mil to get guehi. I'm sure any manager could see we needed a cb.
    Yep saw that

Hughes overruled Slot on Luis Diaz sale
According to sources speaking to CaughtOffside, Hughes overruled Slot regarding the sale of the Colombian attacker four months ago, with the Dutchman describing it as a ‘sad day’ when the player left.

'The Liverpool head coach didn’t want to lose the 28-year-old and had even been pushing for him to be handed a new contract, but the sporting director didn’t see the value in extending the winger’s deal and viewed the transfer offer from Bayern as ‘appealing’.

Make of that what you will but it is clear even from the language and the timings that this was the case.

And this is why I reserve any blame for Slot...we don't know how much he has been undermined... I can see what is going on at the club even if many can't.

Sterling work from Hughes this - no doubt acting on behalf of book balancing rather than team facilitating.. . Sat on his arse for a year and - clearly is as blind as a bat and wasn't interested in paying Diaz what he was worth - saw the money and had the power (who gave him that) to overrule the man who "supposedly' won the title..

Time for some to smell the coffee

It goes back to slot is a coach, not the manager. He probably has input in the positions for transfers but doesn't have the final say.

Its back to the rafa story," I asked for a couch, they gave me a lamp shade".

If the coach and transfer people aren't on the same page, we are fucked. I don't necessarily mean players, but positions.

YEP..been banging on about this on here for a long time. Could sense the Clubs PR Machine on Diaz back in June. They were engineering him out the door. He had been identified as approaching an age... and the most likely to recoup a big sale - probably the last year he would command a huge fee.... It was obvious and I posted on here - IF we keep Gakpo and sell Diaz - we are mad..

But you take the clubs bollox PR that Diaz wanted to leave without a single quote that fits with the timing?

Come on Jozza some critical thinking.

Diaz words are clear - he wanted to stay. The club refused to pay him the salary he was worth. Bayern step in and snap him up... That's when all the baloney comments on him 'wanting to leave appear..' If you know the media and PR and how it works - you know this..

Come on now... I know this is football but we. can't all be that dumb surely..?

I suggest you defiantly cannot trust a word that comes out of the club. It's a business and it's business is 100% dependent on not being candid. Caught Offside are easy to debunk and I would wager Slot will be pressured to do just that... Regardless..

Ask yourself hand on heart... WHY would Luis Diaz want to leave the English champions to go and play in Germany? Ask yourself IF Slot was happy about it.. Really think...

And then when you realise he )Diaz ) did not and he (Slot) wasn't - you know what really happened

    THINK..

I don't know what was said. But I'm certainly not taking seriously anything from some sketchy website.

I wasn't against moving Luis on. Not replacing was the error.

You could have easily kept Diaz for another season, he had 2 left and let him go the season after.. it was the 70 million that was too much to refuse.. going to cost us more in purchases now than it was going too.

Looksike caught offside are taking it from another source (or maybe they are the same). That indy guy on twitter was first with it. That account which I always thought was a joke seems to have become credible recently. Has been fairly spot on with stuff the last 12 months.

This is it, they saw 70mil and said, thank you very much. If we kept him, he wasn't signing unless he got his wages, so we would be selling the following year for less. But how can you plan for the season when you are reducing your options.

I thought him and Gakpo rotated quite well around each other. I only thought he'd leave for Barca due to his South American connection. Being allowed to move sideways to Bayern was criminal
