Taxi for Aaron Briggs & Others

As it's behind the scenes some might not know..

    Liverpool's new set-piece coach is
Aaron Briggs, who was officially appointed to the dedicated role in September 2025, working alongside new set-piece analyst Lewis Mahoney as part of Arne Slot's revamped coaching staff to improve dead-ball situations. Briggs transitioned from his role as Individual Development Coach, allowing Brazilian coach Luiz Fernando Iubel to take over development duties.

Yes copy and paste off google.

yes everyone can blame slot as the fall guy.....

But what about the coaches in general at LFC? what are we doing in training ? I don't think they're the best that's for sure.....we seem clueless in attack and at the back half the time

What about the youth??? what a joke that is.

It's not just about slot- things need to change a lot behind the scenes, obviously I don't know the ins and outs, but it's not good enough.

Firing a Manager is, in most circumstances, the Big Red Button that you hit when there is no return.

I'm a big believer in small differences/percentage gains and trying to find the 5% improvements that can be made before resorting to swinging the Axe.

In Slot's case, I was looking for a change from our set-up and I am pleased to see an attempt at tightening things up. That's a start.

Trying to source a DM or CB would be another little win, potentially.

In terms of attempting new things, a different set piece Coach is certainly high on the list. I'd like to see us under Slot with a different set piece Coach for a spell before we "get rid" at a time if year when getting a new Manager isn't necessarily easy.

I'll feel differently if we end up 8 points off the Champion's League spots or something, but I'd definitely look at percentage gains first. A Briggs replacement may well be one of those gains.

Might be bullshit but i've read that Aaron Briggs didn't even specialize in set-pieces before this job, and changed roles ? well what I posted from google even said that but looked into it a bit more

we get enough of them we also concede a lot compared to chelsea arsenal and a few others but it's marginal , when gakpo cuts in side and shoots at players.. at least he actually shoots I guess.. and yes not just him... it's simply not good enough, my local team aren't much worse and they're non-league !!! yes I know everything is different down there, i'm not that silly.

More noise needs to be made about these guys, more noise needs to be made about the youth, it's beyond shocking, and it's not like we've not spent any money on it, it's not producing enough and get battered every week.

on the defending side it doesn't help konate doesn't seem to judge flight of the ball half the time, even when we do defend one... we're good at not clearing it and conceding anyway... it's beyond silly.

Only Nottingham Forest (11) have conceded more goals from set-pieces in the Premier League this season (excluding penalties) than Liverpool (10). That is more than the Reds shipped from set-plays in the whole of 2024-25 in the league (nine).

Sadly I don't think these clowns will leave or get sacked, until if it happens slot gets sacked they're taking him down with them, and a few others at that.

We ripped up the team- need to rip up the backroom staff.... it's a joke not good enough for liverpool, especially after winning the league, get them gone

Sack Slot he should have gone 2 months ago

Never should have changed the system or spent 430 million on players for an unproven new one either

Two clean sheets, 4 games on the spin where we score, 4 games without a loss.

Naturally, we want it to be better still than this due to the very high standards set by Klopp and the expectations we have as a fanbase - but if we can keep this up, it's certainly a good platform to build upon.

We need to be close to (or within) the Champion's League spots in February, we need to look closer to having settled upon a system (do we persist with the Diamond?) and we need to be playing in the Champion's League knockout rounds.

Hopefully we are on target for that.

False Dawns will occur - can only hope more wins are around the corner.

The squad is imbalanced, yes - but the talent is there. Green shoots of recovery - hopefully we can water the Bamboo.
