Ekitikie & isak maybe need time to form a partnership or might suit gapko further up as one of the 2 attackers.
One of the best performances on the night for me was slot,he had looked lost, out of his depth, clueless, broken a manager waiting for the axe to fall but last night he was in charge on the touchline not balling at the players but organising, instructing, encouriging,he was pulling the strings and the players where reacting, his substitutions where spot on.
Hands up last night he looked a top manager,i just hope the formation change wasnt forced on him and he doesnt revert back to 4 2 3 1.
He reverted to 4231 second half with the subs. We lined up:
Alisson
Bradley Konate VVD Robbo
Grav Jones
Sobozla MacA Wirtz
Ekitke
1st half shape was interesting, a diamond the easiest way to describe it on paper. Both strikers worked hard off the ball dropping wide & deep out of possession and allowing the team to defend 442 with a flat 4 in midfield.
Although briefly, the above shape/strategy 1st half did allow us to look as we did with cituae last year 4231 with Sobozla & Jones 10 & 9. Last night MacA & Jones assumed the 9 & 10 positions.
Think its fair to say Slot opted to have Sobozla & Jones deeper than MacA, whose had a big drop off from last season.
I'd have liked to see the below 3 off Ekitike after the subs but can understand Slot leaving MacA out of the pivot on form.
Alisson
Bradley Konate VVD Robbo
Grav MacA
Sobozla Wirtz Jones
Ekitke
