When Ekitikes won that ball off their lad and drives across but fluffs his shot it’s very Torresesque

Has that same swagger in the movement across the pitch. Wish his pass to Mo had been better - but he looks a la absolutely horrible player to try and defend.

Saw a highlight reel of an out of form Mo Salah from yesterday’s game and he was infinitely more threatening with his movement and chance creating than Wirtz. Even Chiesa only on for 15 minutes, was more of a threat.

The people talking up Wirtz and his supposed brilliance can offer absolutely zero evidence.

His most memorable involvements from an apparent majestic first half, where when he twice lost the ball causing dangerous breaks on our goal.

He will not suddenly develop the necessary ability to be a Ł100m player in this league.

He set up Ekitike with a clever little back heel.

I didn't get to see the game yesterday. But I'll have a look at the stats from whoscored for some evidence.

    Wirtz had

    1 shot, blocked. 0 goals.
    3 key passes, 0 assists.
    2 dribbles.
    Won 1 header.
    4 tackles
    2 interception
    1 clearance
    Dispossesed twice

The above would be key stats. The stand out stats are the work rate.
We had 30 tackles & intercepts yesterday.
    Wirtz made 20% of those.
Only Konate made more tackles (5)
Only Konate also made 2 interceptions
Only Mo Salah produced more key passes (5)
Only Jones (4) & Ekitike (3) produced more dribbles
    Only Ekitike scored
    5 others took more shots
    5 others won more headers
    6 more made more clearances

As per the whoscored algorithm we had 6 players who scored above 7.5 out of 10.

    Ekitike 8.66
    Konate 7.95
    Wirtz 7.84
    Grav 7.82
    Salah 7.62
    Jones 7.58

The rest below 7.5 out of 10

    Kerkez 7.33
    VVD 7.32
    Gomez 7.22
    Alisson 7.19
    Sobozla 7.10
    MacA 6.76

If you spend Ł100m you really must be expecting much much more
