I mean it’s so obvious that Wirtz is a top quality technician… that’s why so many of us (hands up I was dancing) were over the moon when we signed him.

You are way wrong, even more than usual.. which is some achievement tbh. Like almost every Liverpool fan - I am desperate to see the lad show his class. literally Willing it on. Keeping the faith when he plays the wrong ball - or loses possession - or under hits it - or blazes over etc.

We want him to succeed because it means we are doing well. But when BIFFs start trying to tell us that black is white in light of him showing a masterclass against - 2 points in late December Wolves - you open yourself up for ridicule.

The truth is simple for me and why it's causing this debate:

1. Wirtz hasn't yet shown what you would expect for a player at that fee - you expect the finished article with consistency..


2. Wirtz looks a very accomplished player for one so young and in a step up league. Comfortable running in tight spaces with great ball control and I think most can see plenty of goals coming from that.. probably not this season, but hopefully for many to come.

People are questioning his performances to date. Telling us all he's a brilliant player is laughable, when most of us were over the moon with his capture.

We know what he is capable of - some are simply are asking when will see it in this league.

I’ve been quite clear that I believe Wirtz is a top player but one who doesn’t fit how the rest of the squad plays best who we didn’t need and I wish we’d bought Semenyo and Guehi and kept Diaz and Nunez instead of buying

Same applies to Isak who actually plays best in a 433 with rapid wide players being released ahead of him my mates a Newcastle fan so I watched a lot of their games a 4231 with LFWD & RFWD deeper doesn’t suit Isak either he wants thrn up with him or released ahead of him in quick direct breaks where they’re stretching the back line and there’s space for him to run onto the ball that’s how Isak plays best

For all Wirtz’s ability we’d be better off setting up 433 getting out press on and playing as we did to win the league and fucking this everything must be a 5 yard pass everything must go through Wirtz total and utter crap right off
