Going to need to move players on to raise funds
ATTACK-after spending over 300m on 3 attackers,it could be 3 out (salah,chiesa,gapko)
One new winger in.
MIDFIELD-jones,endo out to fund new DM.
DEFENCE-is where fsg will have to spend,new RB,NEW LB to replace robbo.cant see us buying 2 CB's and hopefully get konate to sign new contract and replace gomez with new CB,give virgil one more season before replacing him in 2027.that is still 5 new players needed in the summer which is a big ask.

I might be reading your post too "literally" and thus misunderstanding, so if I am getting the wrong end of the stick do feel free to correct me.

But if we sold Endo and Jones to bring one DM in, we leave ourselves short.

If we sold Chiesa, Salah and Gakpo to bring one winger in, we leave ourselves VERY short.

Six mids, six forwards, would be the ideal. That works for 4-3-3 and works for 4-2-3-1 if you want to call the "10" a mid. For clarity, I am not saying we need to buy all that - we already have lads here - I'm saying if you play with a central forward and two wide forwards, you want cover for each individual. At the moment our attack depth for example would currently look something like -

Chiesa......Isak......Ngumoha
Salah......Ekitike..... Gakpo

They don't all have to be elite quality, but we need a lift. Salah isn't really functioning on the right this season with Slot not trusting Chiesa, while we know Gakpo provides "cut inside" and Ngumoha simply isn't given minutes. I'm all for protecting Rio and maybe there's some underlying issue the medical staff keep tabs on, but does he need to be playing quite so little as currently?

If I thought one of Salah/Chiesa out would happen and a pacey forward came in that'd be a great start. Think of what Mane brought in his first season (played on the right) for example - if we can find anything resembling that then it's a huge lift. If you can find someone for the left as well then even better but Slot seems to really rate Gakpo and we may not want to block Rio's development (you have to play him then!!!!!) by bringing someone in.

Regarding midfield, whether it's 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 you still want six lads. If we are 4-3-3 (not saying we are every week, just want a template here) we might loosely call it -

....................Gravenberch

....Jones...................Mac Allister
Szoboszlai...................Wirtz

In which case you'd say Endo is our "weakest" position (I rate him considerably higher than Slot does, but he isn't often played and is our oldest mid) and it's arguably the spot you target to acquire "the best money can buy" to give the midfield a lift, whilst also meaning you have the option of having Grav further forward sometimes and also can think about if there is anyone you might want to cash in on in future (Mac Allister?) if you want to rebuild further. I mention Mac Allister because he hasn't been at his best this season and isn't the quickest or tallest - and annoyingly I think getting another couple of physical specimens into the side might be useful, much as I would love to simply "outplay" opposition teams.

Good points but we need at least 4 more players and fsg wont splash out without selling to raise funds.my view would give us-
ATTACK-new winger,ekitikie,isak,wirtz,rio,frimpong.=6.
MIDFIELD-new DM,mac,dom,gravenberch,frimpong=5
LB-new LB,kerkez=2
CB-vvd,jacquet,leoni,konate=4
RB-new RB,bradley=2
KEEPER-alisson,Mamardashvili=2
It's not perfect but gives us a 20 matchday squad.maybe keep gomez,frimpong has played a lot right mid and can add something in attack,maybe a young midfielder can come through for place on bench.unlikely but could bring elliot back.
I guess my point is i dont see fsg splashing out for the needed 6/7 players and we will be lucky to get 3.

Fsg's viewpoint-
Salah to be replaced.
Robertson to be replaced.
DM needed sell jones & endo
CBs stand at virgil,leoni,gomez,jacquet,if konate stays then gomez will go but wouldnt surprise me if they stick with the 4 if konate leaves.
Gapko stays unless good offer comes in to replace him.
Winger,DM,back up LB =3 players in,with fingers firmly crossed on replacement for konate.
