That's the issue. I still don't think Rio is quite ready but I'd start him ahead of Mo now. That must be Salah's worst ever performance in a LFC shirt. And he's had some stinkers this season.

Time to bench Salah. Use him as an impact sub. Frimpong all the way and Isak when he is back.

I genuinely wish we still had Darwin in the squad.

He wouldn't solve all our problems, he wouldn't be our star player, he would still frustrate and make the wrong choices - we know what he is.

However, his pace, strength, desire and combative tendencies combined with his ability to play a wider role or a central one - and a generally good injury record, would have been so welcome from the bench, or when certain players aren't in form.

There are matches where I feel he would have proved more useful than Gakpo and matches where I feel he'd have proved more useful than Salah - and we will never know if his runs would have been a useful foil for someone like Ekitike or Isak (when fit) when having his moments of impact from the bench, or occasional starts.

Ah well - we'll never know now and his sale did help with funding what we're currently working on. In a League full of pace and physicality though, which is increasingly diverting towards the chaos in the box caused by long throws and set pieces, he's one I'd rather have in the armory than not.

It will be interesting to see what sort of profile of player we go for as Mo's replacement. Darwin didn't have the mental calm and decision-making capacity but we would not be surprised to find that we buy a player with similar physical attributes.

'the' moment for me was when salah was set free and neco williams easily chased him down and shugged salah off the ball, leaving salah flapping in frustration.
Sad to see salah turned on by fans but not the player he was, doesnt help that he is still being used for pace which isnt there anymore.
Maybe the jota role from bench and stick salah in the box or move ekitikie left-ekitikie salah frimpong/rio with wirtz behind?

Agree with this. Same for me. He gave up yesterday in that run. He knows it's not being given as a foul..he simply isn't prepared to run any further and fight for that ball. That's not allowed in a Liverpool shirt. The smirks etc are one thing...that there on the pitch is quite another. That's your job. I love the man and what he has brought to the club, but he doesn't seem to have the same drive. Same can be said for Macca - Gravenberch and plenty of others this season tho. Yesterday the back 4 were epic..and boy they had to be.. but they too have been AWOL for much of the season. This is far far deeper than just the form of Mo Salah - despite the outed 'Admin' trying to label it as such

You should have stopped there. That was spot on.

He wouldn't solve any of our problems. We already have a far better version of Nunez in Ekitike.

Mo has just got old overnight. It happens. It's a case of thanks for everything but both parties now need to move on. We're playing with at least 2 passengers in the team, Mo and Macca. And Gakpo isn't providing much. There's nothing Nunez could do to help. In fact, he'd only make things worse.

Agree Ekitike is the "keeper" but in theory both could still feature - it wasn't a case of Darwin v Hugo.

I believe Darwin's capable (yesterday) of putting in a better performance than Cody did, or Mo did.

    ...Darwin.....Hugo.....Cody

    or

    ...Mo.......Hugo.....Darwin

I feel has every chance of looking better than what we got. The lad's gone now and I'll obviously back the current players, but don't mind pointing out poor performances when I see them.

The 2023 'Great Reset' didn't work... and the 'Admin' has not made a poll for Cody? The man the brains behind the outfit chose to keep because they wouldn't pay for Luis's contract or his replacement..

Yea, there are a lot of players capable of playing better than Mo or Gakpo. We brought one of them on yesterday. Young Rio who helped break the deadlock. I really don't think Nunez would have offered more than Rio.
