Frimpong isn't good enough to be a regular starter in both the RB and RW positions. He should be used as cover for, or an occasional alternative to better and more suitable players.

I really want to see him deployed as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 or at least let off the leash in a regular back four if Szobo is willing to do a Hendo-esque role and cover space behind him.Originally Posted by Ravo19

If Bradley gets back to showing his early form then I don't see what role frimpong will have if a top wide player also comes in to replace salah. He'll be the cover for those 2 players. Unless we save the ŁŁ (no shock there) and let him have a good run at RW from start of season. If he can't cut it then he should be on the bench with Jones, gakpo,elliott and kostas. The trouble with our bench though is when 4 or 5 of them are all on the pitch at the same time due to injury,suspension and rotation cover. Then the overall quality drops off a cliff

That last part is why most, if not all of those players that were mentioned shouldn't even be on our bench. We're a massive club. We should have a bench that contains players that we're confident of being able to come on and do a good job. Not having a strong bench or squad is a large reason as to why we've not won more than we have in the PL era.

Bit concerned the rumour is linking us with players from teams like newcastle,palace,sunderland,spurs hopefully a few media stories but not the high profile players we need to push us on again

Agreed, either the managers aren't asking for it or the owners aren't providing it. We've been 2 or 3 really good midfielders short for many years (including no proper 6) and maybe 1 good forward short. I believe Klopp though was telling the truth when he said he preferred to worth with a small squad, although we did need that extra quality to pip peak City teams and RM in CL. You need about 17 top players available to compete. If you only have 13-14 then injuries will expose that

Klopp said on at least one occasion that he wanted more players but that such things weren't up to him. The trouble with us, including under Klopp is that we've had very good players and very good first elevens, but once we've have to call upon the bench players, never mind the rest of the squad, the drop off in quality has been very big.
You can get away with having a good quality, smallish squad if only one or two players are absent for a small period of time, or you've not got a packed schedule, but if you are going deep in four completions most seasons you're going to have serious issues unless you have a sizeable squad that has a lot of good to top quality players in it.

So long as they gel and contribute more as a collective than their individual talent, I generally speaking don't mind where we acquire our players.

Hahahaha - in hindsight after that window, I wonder how many Reds wish we had done one of our more "normal" windows of buying potential or on-the-cusp players rather than the attempt to massively elevate our attack?
It's a pity we sacrificed the depth that we did. Also the Diaz thing - I still think accepting a big fee for a player like Diaz was fine - it was the subsequent lack of replacing him with a 22-25 year old with a high ceiling and electric pace (and/or intense work-rate) that was the issue.
Recruitment will be fascinating this Summer. Not sure if this will be a Summer where I mentally check out from it and see who we bought when the season starts, or if it'll be one where I find myself googling Liverpool transfer links every hour
