Diaz left who was a quality player on that left so we did get a good replacement for Mane although not as good.

It was an all time great team and it rarely if ever happens that you get seamless replacement but when you look at last season and the players brought in we would have expected so much more.
Wether a different manager changes that is something we'll have to wait to see.
Maybe it's not as far away as I think? We do have good quality in there. We just need a few real players to bring the level up again.
I just can't see much happening under Slot as he seems to have misdiagnosed the problem at times. He's often said we played well when we didn't. He's undermined players and hasn't man-managed at all well. So the evidence suggests that will continue next season. It's hard to be optimistic right now.

Looking for positives, as you say a couple of key signings could take us up a notch. If we got in a strong winger on either side that would be a great start. A DM as we've said all season. That would free up Grav and Szob to play further forward which is their forte. Not sure where Wirtz fits.

The trouble is we've let problems pile up for a few seasons before Klopp left by not investing in the team. Then we've tried to solve a load of things at once. It hasn't worked so far and the injuries have exacerbated it.

    Possible team next season:
    Mamar/Alisson
    Bradley/Frimpong Konate VVD Kerkez
    New DM
    Szob Grav
    RW/Frimpong Ngumoha/Wirtz?
    Isak

Thing is, go through that Liverpool team under Klopp, only Alisson and Virgil were world class when they arrived.
Robbo couldn’t even get past Moreno when he arrived, the likes of Gini and Henderson were ok but not exceptional and as for the front 3, all very good players but under Klopp they became the best in the world

Never mind individual players who we’ll never be able to replace it’s Klopp who we’ll never replace.

True. We know Klopp brought the x-factor. The very least Slot could bring next season would be a coherent plan of how we want to play to maximise the players we have. I would give him some leeway in that he's had to put up with a lot of disruption due to injury and massive squad changes which probably weren't down to him.

This day last year we lifted the league Trophy, never did I think k a year later I'd be so glad the league is finished. Never have I been as bored watching us as I've been this season.
We've made shite teams look half decent

Post of the year… and from someone who clearly knows what they are talking about. The great Liverpool - the great monster Liverpool of old - restored by one man.

Kerkez,Wirtz,Ekitike,Isak....imagine these players under klopp. These were good players before Slotball. Klopp would have got that little bit extra from them. Look how the mainstays & Legends have dropped off. One man....exactly

Now imagine what klopp could have done with the almost Ł250m wirtz and isak cost.
We'd have a team to challenge for another few yrs.

He wouldn’t have bought those two for a start

Very true. Couldn't see Klopp spending that on them. For one thing, Klopp always prioritised attitude in his players. Isak doesn't fit the bill by all accounts. With Wirtz, I don't see Klopp shelling out that much. I think he'll be a great player somewhere (maybe even with us) but just don't see how he fits in our team right now. What Klopp could have got for that money - we would have got about 5 solid players at least!!

You can't bemoan the lack of funds Klopp was given and at the same time say he'd have opted for the frugal approach had he had the money.

There's no doubt Klopp would have got far more out of this side than Arne. I think Klopp would have loved to have had Wirtz and Isak. Both quality players. He'd have definitely have loved the energy that Kerkez and Ekitike bring to the table!

While Klopp wasn't a master tactician (although an underrated one) he'd have had round pegs in round holes. Whatever the system he would have needed to fit these players in, it would have at least been a balanced one.
