Yep. Milan couldn't handle him. If Crouch had started I think we would have won that final.

Still can't forgive Rafa for not starting Crouchie in the 2007 final...Originally posted by Steveo View PostRafael Beneath Us the Blueshyte would sing. BUT we beat the best team in Europe in the final... Rated as the best team In Europe for a few years under Rafa...
Pennant was on fire that night in Athens, pinging in crosses. It was made for Peter C. that CL final...

Aye it's great. That league season was dreadful. I forgot how bad we actually were.Originally posted by justincredible View PostJa, it's brilliant. Shows how much of a genius Rafa really was. Every minute detail covered. Especially the pens...
Great stories from the CL campaign though. 21 years. I remember it like yesterday, I can't believe it's been that long. I'll bet all of our lives are very different now.

Looks like greed may (partially at least) fuck up the 2026 World Cup in the good old USA.

absolutely exorbitant prices being charged. Hope FIFA get burned.

I can see that.Originally posted by Daffydd View PostAlonso is said to be a big admirer of Wharton.
If he came here you'd want someone high-energy and high-tackling to compliment him and they would ideally have a bit of zip as well.
Take us - if we had Wharton in our set-up and were sticking with this idea of building around Wirtz, you want to make sure that Szoboszlai is in there.
Playing a three that consisted of Wirtz, Wharton and Gravenberch would be a very double-edged sword.

Seems to be the one where the mutterings have been loudest for a while.Originally posted by RedMagic View PostWe're supposedly interested in signing Adam Wharton.
He's not the quickest from the athletic perspective. One thing he does to excellently is release the ball forwards, accurately and promptly - if we are genuinely going for him then it sounds like a fully committed "all in" on the Isak/Wirtz etc plan so that we can break lines.
I would be surprised if Wharton came and Slot went. If Wharton's coming I think Slot is staying.
See what happens I suppose. Pretty concerned about the "opportunity cost" of not getting Alonso in. He's available, fans would love him, we'd get a short-term lift, the football would be good and he has worked with Wirtz and Frimpong in the past.
Retaining Slot looks such a massive dropped ball, unless he proves us all wrong and turns it around. I'll be mightily impressed if he does that and you'd have to take your hat off to him, but I just don't see it.

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Anthony Gordon and have begun negotiations with Newcastle United over signing the England forward, 25. (Bild - in German)
We can't be in for him.. so looks like Gakpo and Rio for that spot next season

What's with the negativity.? You'll be facing some shill powered gaslighting if you're not careful.
I'm told the REAL fans are popping the Champagne....haven't you heard..? They're dancing in the streets across the 'pool... on account of beating the Blue Shyte.. Someone just needs to tell them.

While I don't think he would, I personally wouldn't even hesistate throwing even Xabi into that pile of potential candidates.Originally posted by Daffydd View PostBlimey
Iraola, Fabregas, Simeone, Glasner among the favourites with honourable mention to Frank Lampard of course.
As long as LFC act like they good and aren't going to be looking for an improvement themselves, why not?
He is after all one of the top young(ish) managers out there with proven title-winning experience in different top leagues.
Chelsea have sacked two managers this season, ......as have the Spuds (....though to no positive effect), and the Mancs one,.....
Meanwhile, we're sticking with the drab cowardly football guy for next season.
