Just stop effing about over a couple of million and bring him in. Konate’s head has gone, he’s been terrible, we can’t rely on him going forward. Why the hell would we screw this season by waiting to get him on a free? He’s needed now.

Exactly.. Just get him now and relegate Konate to the bench.Originally posted by miller0863 View PostJust stop effing about over a couple of million and bring him in. Yea but every little helps. We are broke - can’t risk £5m even if it is crucial to a title defenceOriginally posted by miller0863 View PostJust stop effing about over a couple of million and bring him in. Get what you're saying and if I were in control, part of me would be very tempted to just pay it.Originally posted by LFC-DPG View Post£40m for an England defender is a snip. Risk losing out for the sake of being tight when we’ve just got that fee for Jarell is crazy.
Flip side, I can see merits in us being consistent about saying what we mean and meaning what we say on regards to transfers, so as not to be a club that is easily fleeced in future a la Man United.
Dismissing a "£5m is nothing" stance could hypothetically mean getting him for £20m in January and suddenly there's £15m towards the next player £45m acquisition - and so on and so forth.
Where I'd be more inclined towards wiggle-room is when we try to SELL players. Us having £15m valuations of Nat Phillips and Ox when we received £12.5m offers and our refusal meant that instead of getting £25m in the kitty for players we wanted rid of, we got nothing - hindsight is a wonderful thing but we really ought to have taken the money there in my eyes.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? And that’s fair enough if he’s guaranteed to come to us, but he isn’t.Originally posted by Insidious View PostGet what you're saying and if I were in control, part of me would be very tempted to just pay it.

Who’s to say City, Madrid etc won’t need a new CB in Jan and offer Palace the £40m they were after in this window.
We are relying on a player in Konate who doesn’t seem to be fully focused yet and a utility player in Gomez who’s hardly ever fit.
I wouldn’t want to throw an inexperienced 18 year old into a large number of games or have to reply on the likes of Endo for long periods.

Equally, whilst it's plausible that another side could come in for him, Guehi may well "only want" Liverpool - we just don't know.
Less than 48 hours from now we will know more so it's going to have to be another play-through of Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy VII for me rather than refreshing Google searches about Guehi and Isak - hopefully good news ahead.
Excited to see Leoni's first performance in a red shirt as well when it comes.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound? Steel Wool

You can't say that about Leoni yet....Originally posted by sydenham red View PostLeoni and Guehi are the future first choice CB pairing. How soon that happens depends on the drop off timeline of VVD. Gomez may still be around in 3yrs to cover but virg and konate wont.
How many young CB's have we had, we all thought would be first choice by now, and yet playing in league 2 or lower now?
I hope so, though.

We've still got Elliot you can sell FSG... not many more though, we're running out of players !
Has tski gone now? last I heard about a loan? Which i don't see the point might aswell get a few mill for him...
really don't understand loaning a 29 year old out, or anyone that's not youth, unless a bad injury has happened- take the money instead even if it's a little cheaper... he's going to be 30 next year and we won't get any more for him...

Unusual one for sure. I'm not sure if anyone actually placed a serious bid for him though? If they did then taking the money would be the logical choice.Originally posted by Kev0909 View Postreally don't understand loaning a 29 year old out, or anyone that's not youth, unless a bad injury has happened- take the money instead even if it's a little cheaper... he's going to be 30 next year and we won't get any more for him...
It's likely Robertson's last season at the club. I wonder if we are content enough with the idea of Tsimikas getting more minutes at Roma than he would with us so that next Summer we either command a higher fee for him from clubs that are seeing him week-in, week-out OR Tsimikas comes back into the fold for next pre-season so we can assess if we are happy with him as our depth/cover rather than having to go out and buy another left-back when other positions may be priority by then.
Don't really see us extending Robbo - I think we'll see most if not all of Klopp's core playing group (Robertson, Alisson, Van Dijk, Salah) having departed by the time we are entering the 2027/28 season with someone like Mac Allister being closer to the Captaincy.Your hobbies are rollerblading and you're also a bit of a rat-hound?
