Leoni seems to be basically done.

If so, it puts us in a better position than what we were.

    Van Dijk
    Konaté
    Leoni
    Gomez
Emergency-only use of Endo, or Grav, or Robbo*

Hopefully if Leoni is secured, we can play our best hand in negotiations with Palace - or wait - or look elsewhere.

This side is being reconstructed to attempt to compete for 5+ years and not just for 25/26.

*Not advocating this on the regular, you'd hope using someone like Endo wouldn't happen for more than 3-5 League games in a season. League Cup etc a different issue

Paul Joyce reckons it's an initial fee of £26m for Leoni.

Bear in mind that Slot also used Nyoni at CB in a couple of preseason games.
The lad seemed to handle it okay.

Still a bit under-sized fo regular use in that role in my opinion, but a decent option to have for an emergency in a cup game like an early Carabao cup game against a lower tier team.

I really do hope the lad beefs up a bit this season.
He'd be useful in multiple areas including possibly his long-term role of (eventually?) replacing Grav or providing an option to that pivot position.

Really hope he is can fulfil his potential. He is a physical brute for his age and has impressed Parma fans - think that's 17 Serie A appearances now - for context I think Huijsen had about 14 when he departed Juventus for Bournemouth.

£26m is no joke for an 18-year old, though there is a tax on potential and on a player that will (in time) fill a Home-grown quota slot. Naturally if he has a boss career it will be a bargain and it would take quite the failure to make a huge loss on him if it doesn't work out, so it feels low-risk in it's own way.

Fingers tightly crossed for the lad. Always easier to get the right-footed, right-sided players sorted out and given that he has featured in a back three before he might even be able to do the very occasional match at right-back, though wouldn't be flying up the wing like Frimpong.

Getting the left-footed, left-sided centre-back in for the future will be one of the next defensive issues to address in time to take pressure off Van Dijk.

Yeah I have no objections to occasional Nyoni use either, though picking-and-choosing the matches (if it's starts) or the appearances (if it's 15 or so minutes) will need judged carefully. Really prefer to try and get them as many situations as possible where we are 2-0 up and only have 10 minutes left as possible to build confidence - though if they're ready, they're ready!

Having utility players is amazing, really is. Naturally top-level specialists are what you want in an elite team in a few positions, but who doesn't want two or three "Milners" in a squad?

Gomez too deserves credit for those performances at left-back. Wish the lad could stay fit.

Have to say the same. Looks an extremely astute signing. This lad has a huge future and is rated so highly in the land that is known for making the best of the best.

Look at the size of the bastard! 6'4" and built like a tank at 18!

Saw a clip of him throwing Lukaku around like a rag doll.

Really positive, after pissing around and missing out on Yoro last year its good to get this over the line.

Just need to sort out what is happening with Konate or Guehi

Aye good point there regarding Yoro. We did want him but Utd just desperate played silly buggers throwing around crazy money. Which is obviously not like them at all.

                          Ufff yeah. £70m, wasn't it?
He's played about 20 games so far for them. So the jury's still out I guess...
