I kind of agree in letting Doak go. I just get the feeling he will be one of these players that flatter to deceive (my opinion). Where as Ngumoha looks a player.. Saying that I hope Doak proves me wrong and has a good footballing career..
Still need a centre back and centre forward. Regarding Marc Guehi.. maybe we can revisit the situation in January?.. we'll have a more clearer understanding on Konate by then.. If Konata ain't signed on by then.. Just let him rot on the bench for the last 5 months.. See how he deals with that. Doubt he'll get into the France world cup squad. Let him join them fake entitled club in Madrid.. If you can't love our club after last evening and the passion.. then you don't deserve to be here.
Obviously if the club is not giving a decent wage offer in his contract negotiations then thats understandable. But i doubt that's the case.
Regarding our forward line we do need another 9 number. Its too much to expect a new lad in Ekitike to play every game.
Hopefully we can get Isak in, in this transfer window..With Elliot looking like hes off. We could give Chiesa more minutes.
If he's happy coming on for last 15/20 minutes

Konate rumoured to be on 70,000 wants 200,000,think if we can get a quick sale wiill get guehi in to replace him.
Slott made a comment that at 2-2 he would have turned to jota and maybe chiesa can take on that role.
If we cant get isak in,i expect rodrygo to arrive.
My sources tell me the Doak deal includes a buy back option...
Coming common this, not sure what to think of it
smaller clubs already have a huge fight against them, sign a player that could turn out top quality (not saying doak but anyone)... and be the main man and help them rise up the table and build on it... nope..... buy-back, see you later... yes make some profit but I can't imagine the buy-back price being that much, and you don't find a gem of a player every day.
I don't think we'll be buying Doak back but you know.... wonder what started clubs doing this more, Chelsea ?
you can never be sure on "rumours".. But would people be happy in letting Konate go to Madrid and bringing in Guehi this summer? I still think we are 1 short in defence if thats the case. we are relying on Gomez who is never fit and a 18 year old. to be back up.. I worry about Virgil as well. I can't see him being able to play 38 league games at his age..

My gut reaction is yes, Guehi in and Konate out, we'd be less likely to have an injury crisis in defence and won't be worrying so much about our future situation.
But as much as I don't trust Konate/Real I suppose it's worth hanging on to him for as long as he will play ball.
Although if we did get Guehi would Konate suddenly get itchy feet?
Or will Real think he's 'available' this late in the window?
We can't be spending a season crying over whether Virgil will sign a new contract and then suddenly realise he's an old man. But we do need to get at least one more solid proven centre back this month.

In terms of depth, if we present a scenario where Konaté is likely to leave, I'd probably get Guehi in and just hang onto Konaté anyway for the last year.
Van Dijk
Guehi
Konaté
Leoni
Gomez
Plenty of cover, Leoni gets to learn and we can pick-and-choose when he is thrown in at the deep end, chance to rotate Virgil sometimes.
If Konaté comes to his sense and extends with us, all the better - we can look at moving Gomez on before the 26/27 season if we want and we have two centre-backs gunning to be "top dog" as Van Dijk enters his final season in 26/27 - I'd be reluctant to sell Konaté in this window.

we can easily upgrade on konate in my opinion, he's not the best as some people make him out to be, he's a better sakho.
might be saying we can upgrade on VVD by the end of the season too, age gets to them all eventually.
think we'll struggle at the back by the looks of things without another top CB, same in attack if we get a injury or 2
I'm Afraid it'll be our downfall this season hopefully not, might be like rodgers is back all over again from the first game don't take the risks, make the signings ffs, we can splash the money we did on wirtz, i'm sure we can sort this out.

Yes, to me a buy-back clause suggests the club think a player is good and we may want them back one day, like a weird loan deal with interest (not sure how I'd feel as a player) - whereas a sell-on clause suggests the player is deemed good but not good enough.
We have benefited from inserting sell-on clauses over the years but there are also plenty of times when a player just hasn't been sold on or they run down their contract and leave on a free.

Yeah that's one way of looking at it.
It's just a bit shit, I'd like smaller clubs to have a chance, but this is coming more and more common like I said, maybe chelsea with there 50 players started it ??
As I said already hard for smaller clubs to get anywhere, this is just another nail in the coffin.
