  • He’s out on some lean muscle and he’s adjusting to the required work rate and speed of doing things in the Prem. Still too slow and deliberate in an overly stylised way in playing passes at times, needs to continue improving the speed of what he does and less of the Thiago all fur coat and no knickers routine getting caught before he gets the pass off or it being easily blocked

Now he has to continue working harder than ever to improve and develop relationships with hid team mates in the right way, communicate, ask them to look for him in the positions he takes up they too often don’t give him the ball in and work together with them in movement and inter passing moves more

        • Feel I have to say this yet again. Some are still trying to find positives on Florian Wirtz and somehow see his five yard assist as an example of his apparent worth and genius.

He does a lot of running… well jogging as he has zero pace but little else.

You want to see what £100m should buy you for an attacking midfielder look at Cole Palmer or my personal favourite who we should have bought in the summer, Morgan Rogers. Two excellent goal against Man Utd again today and I’m supposed to be happy with a five yard assist as some sorry of proof we have a genius on our hands???

Naaah not for me, he ain’t gonna make it here.

          • I agree, hes never gonna be prolific. one assist in 13/14 games, he was out injured for the other matches.. You expect your attacking player to get some goal or another.. worst singing monetary wise we've ever made if you ask me.

            • bottom half of the German league, the teams would struggle to compete with teams in the championship. Wirtz may have looked a million dollars in Germany, where he got several more seconds on the ball and was able to control the game better.. run and play nice balls here and there, In the premier league, everyone is moving the defenders of the opposition are closing your attackers down..you get little or no space to play balls in between.. thats why Wirzt is often caught out passing to our players. You have to be super talented to play a slow pace in the premier league. Semenyo and Rodgers play on the front foot and are quick. Wirtz plays at his own pace.. it doesn't work for him or the team

                  • He defo lacks pace and power.....A must in this league....If he was that good we would have seen the 'magic' surely by now....Not looking a great signing sadly...

                      Incredible signing compared to Isak

I'm seeing rating's wise in the last 2 he's been pretty good MoTm last game????

Dunno what you lot are missing?

all the experts and pundits say he'll come good, that'll do me over some people that wanted slot sacked after 3 losses after winning his season the first season with us, can't lie, i'm sure he'll be fine

You guys think isak was a better signing over Wirtz I take it?

                      • He is an attacking player kev. He has one assist and that against 10 man Spurs, the team with the worst home record of any Premier League team over the last two seasons.

He is NOT getting results from his play. He jogs around a lot but it’s not enough.

The levels we require from his position are the likes of Rogers, Palmer and Foden, please tell me how he affects games like those three for example??

One five yard assist?? Nope, not for me.

                        • Maybe if our midfielders passed to him it might help. He's finding space but our players can't find him though It's getting better but it's taking alot longer than I expected.

We have a German salesman come over to England last week for a company knees up. He's been going to Leverkusen games for 30 years and says Wirtz is the best player he's ever seen.

He also said the same as you Ian, that he's just getting enough of the ball.

But I think it's just the way we play. It's too slow, we want far too many touches of the ball.

I thought Wirtz linked up quite well Kirkez. At least he passes him the ball, unlike Gakpo!

Even at £100m it's far too early to write him off. Caicedo looked a waste of money in his first season. Chelsea ditched both De Bruyne and Mo after a season.

I really do hope it's "getting better" - not convinced as yet... A huge amount of examining fairly pointless stats to try and assert the notion that our £116 million play maker is actually being epic.

We played a shyte Spurs side and created literally SWEET FA. Side to side, pedestrian BS...Nada ZIP... Put David Silva or his diluted Portuguese namesake Bernardo in there and we are creating havoc through that non existent Spurs midfield..

There is nobody more willing to praise Wirtz - when it's deserved - than myself..!

Let's be honest, until the sending off Spurs are the more likely to score.. AND after the sending off.. Spurs the more likely to score. They ended the game with the higher XG FFS. We have -0.60 from 65% of the ball?? WTF.. We beat them 2:1 - could easily have been 2:2 and that's against 10 for most of the game and 9 for the last 10 minutes.. This is the side with the WORST home record in the league across 2 seasons...! The result was hugely fortunate. The manner of the sending off - literally pointless challenge from Simmons - and then our second goal.. I meant that's 9 times in 10 being chalked off.

Top result - diabolical performance - hoping to see the maestro come good... Merry Christmas..

                              • I only saw MOTD highlights of Saturday's game. Wirtz looked to be involved at least and showed a few neat turns and link-up. Hard to tell from a small sample. I would say in his defence, that the whole team has been terrible so him coming good is probably that bit harder this season than if he had slipped into the team a year ago. There are promising signs with him an Ekitike and Kerkez....small signs....
